Jeremy Lin is a large reason of why we lost this series

I didn't watch that game. I don't know what his injury was. Westbrook was injured for OKC, he didn't play well either. Neither has Derrick Rose played well.

I can't believe that you are that obtuse, that it has to be explained to you that not all injuries are the same? Some might just be a sore throat, others might mean you can't move and be on the court at all, others might mean you can't lift your arm up.

IMO Jeremy probably shouldn't have played in the series at all after he got injured. But he was damned either way. If he hadn't played people would be on him for not trying to tough it out. By playing he just gave them a scapegoat and the opportunity they were waiting for all season.

He did the RIGHT thing by his team and coaches and really by the fans too, by making himself available even though he knew he was limited in what he could do. After that, it's up to the coaches/trainers to decide whether he is healthy enough to be effective or not.

No quickness??? According to sports science his first steps are on par with John Wall...who I guess is another notoriously slow-footed PG. His spin move was near Derek Roses' - who they claimed is a top performer for that metric...and Lin's release I think they said was quicker than Ray Allen.
But if it makes you feel better..keep hatin'

Lin is certainly a disappointment, same is Harden. It is hard to win the ball game when your two starters shot %25 and %39.

Injuries could be the reason that you were unable to play, not the reason that you were unable to play well.

That's true...look at how poorly the Spurs are doing because Ginobli has been bad (in Lin terms) and the same could be said for the Knicks and JR Smith...
Apparently both players could easily be replaced by say...Patrick Beverly. Who CLEARLY has out played them. (please note mt rushmore sized sarcasm)

Ya I wish Lin had same kind of injury Curry had. Every time Lin sprained his ankle this season, he went into beast mode the very next game.

Why can't you just admit he didn't play well? the stats don't lie?
And yes he was injured and it was a good moral effort, but
    we're talking BASKETBALL here.

Everyone knows I like the guy. He DID play even though in hindsight he shouldn't have played.

We can make all the reasoning, legit and not legit we want, but the results are there and it was disappointing.

There's no way this can be true. Unless they count "release" from when the ball is raised above your head. Lin has a very deliberate shooting motion.

You know that sometimes sport science is BS right? Not a Lin Hater but referencing sports science is not convincing at all. I would agree with his explosive first step and good spin, but to compare his release with Ray Allen....that would be embarrassing.

I will say this, the SS was done using Knick's Lin...I think his shot was different last year. My point was more that Lin is quick and to say otherwise seems like an attempt to diminish his abilities without facts.

So you're saying if someone is injured and plays, they should be playing at 100%? You're saying if someone plays injured then the injury doesn't affect their performance at all? Or are you saying if you are injured then you just shouldn't play?

Neither of those statements make any sense.

And why can't you admit that if Beverley wasn't foul happy pappy, Lin wouldn't have had to have played? I was all for leaving Beverley out there and watching him foul out in the first half.

The issue isn't really about how well he played. It's what that statement implies. When you say, someone didn't play well, or they failed to perform in the playoffs, there's an element of blame being ascribed. As in, when it counted, THEY came up short, they let the team/fans down, they are not worth their contract (and should be voided if possible), they are not as good or are just as bad as everyone said they were. i.e. Jeremy's 'performance' in the playoffs is a real indication of who he is as a player. All sentiments that have been voiced and repeated often on here.

That is the problem. That these intellectually dishonest/lazy conclusions are being drawn in order for people to simply re-affirm their prejudiced opinion of his ability or limitation thereof.

I honestly feel that his performance just doesn't come into it. He was injured, and that's that. Injuries can happen. He played the entire season through various niggles and performed well. It's bad luck that it happened at this time. And that's all there is to it really.

If this happens again next season, I think there's an argument to be made that perhaps he is injury prone and that should be taken into account when offering a further deal, like any other player.

I know no such thing. I'm not sure if you really believe this and are lying to yourself or if you are just lying in your post. But I've been on these forums all year and read your posts, and I don't buy it.

It's a tough one. You can see why he wanted to play and why his coach and team mates wanted him out there. It's easy now in hindsight. Personally I think Durant should get a lot of hate from Rockets fans because he hit Lin in game 2 where he was injured, quite deliberately, to make his point, and to me that really spoiled any chance of Lin contributing to the series.

And there's the point. You seem to be disappointed IN him FOR being INJURED. I'm disappointed FOR him and FOR the Rockets that he got injured. Though there are lots of people on here who seem to have been rubbing their hands with glee, in precisely this hope, as evidenced by the utterly cynical attempts to lay the blame for the loss of this series at Jeremy's feet. If you want my opinion, there was a lot more to it than that.

Hey jetfuel. Defending Lin all you want won't change this year's perception of Lin. People will always remember the last thing they saw, an awful Lin who does not belong. Be patient and wait until next season to silence the hate. His trend is straight up and I'm pretty sure most will be happy with Lin next year.

Despite being right on most of your arguments, you are just inviting more hate. Take it easy and enjoy the summer. Next season will be a great one for the rockets. We will surely get an upgrade at center or power forward. Winning will cure everything.

Hey. Thanks. I know what you're saying is true. Those who dislike Lin(and have done so all season) aren't going to be swayed by reason. But at the same time, I think it's important to challenge dishonesty and untruth. Because if you let enough people repeat a lie often enough uncontested, it starts to take on a life of it's own.

Iraqi WMDs are a classic example.

Well I'm going to make a few excuses for Lin because quite frankly they are valid ones.

First and foremost we have to remember that Lin was in his first season as a full time starter.

Secondly we also have to remember this team was brand new coming into the season and even changed starting lineups on a regular basis throughout.

Thirdly, and yes, players do get tired and injured. Especially when it's their first season as a full time starter.

That's not to say no one ever performs well under these circumstances but in many cases they do not nor do I find it fair to get on them when they don't.

It's not really a huge deal nor a shocker that Lin didn't give us more than 14 points (which isn't bad by the way) on average under all these circumstances.

The reason we lost this series wasn't just because of Lin's injury.

Remember nearly half our roster was injured or sick coming into the playoffs and during it. Harden had strep throat for the last couple games. Parsons was playing with a nagging calf injury. Lin was injured for half the series. Delfino was just recovering from an illness coming into the series and then got injured for the last game or two. Greg Smith was sick for the first few games or so of the series.

Depth means a lot in the NBA and we had very little depth in the playoffs due to injury and illness. It kind of makes me wonder why Thunder fans complained so much about just one big injury (even if it was Westbrook who I'm probably one of the biggest supporters of amongst those who are not Thunder fans).

Anyways that's my reason for why we lost this series. A lack of depth (not to mention when you play a team full of stars you generally have far more bad calls go against you than for you which was the case here as well).

I think I saw the sport science episode and don't remember they saying Lin's release is quicker than Ray Allen. There was no way either from eye test. Ray Allen is the quickest spot up shooter in the league. From eye test, Lin's pretty quick shooting off dribble but his catch and bring the ball down to the knee and shoot is quite slow.
