I assume this thread is the catch-all Lin thread? Mike D'Antoni and Jeremy Lin will meet for the first time on the court since their days with the Knicks last season. D’Antoni and Lin share mutual respect for each other
Don't be silly. I have work to do to spend all my time here. And it's not like LOFs have been able to put up solid arguments. It's been a few hours since I last posted but, in that interval, it seems like jose's been whipping your asses as far as I'm concerned. There's only one post I'd like to actually comment on in the meantime: I've praised his defense before but he needs to score.
I agree he does need to find his scoring touch eventually. Here is another video & it shows how Lin was able to do his thing. He needs screens set for him but the Rockets are the worst screen setting team in the NBA so his FG% likely won't improve that much until the bigs improve on that skill set. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LIbz2cdn6lk
I don't know about him being Nash like. That really isn't the argument I am trying to make. Just showing how far our offense is from becoming highly effective enough for our backcourt to thrive. (not just Lin). But "screens" that is the operative word in terms of getting him free of his defender & down the lane to score to pass, draw the defender, a foul etc & the Rockets are the worst screen setting team in the NBA in my opinion.
Not just yours. I feel the same way! If bigs can't initiate a good screen, about 10 seconds are wasted off the bat. Harden takes part of the blame for causing some of the illegal screen calls. They all need to watch films on how Varejao setting screens.
Lin does not need to score, just like Rondo doesn't need to score. A PG's primary job is involve this teammates in the game and to also make them better. He should only score when he is forced to. You guys think a PG guard should play like an undersized SG. That is losing basketball.
Lin is going to be so much better than Nash. Lin is a lot more athletic than Nash. I've never seen Nash dunk, but I have seen Lin do it several times. He's already better on defense than Nash ever was. Lin's passing is also top 10% in the league. Lin had 11 assists on Friday in his 34th start (being cautious here by not counting his numbers in the D'antoni system). It took Rondo 47 starts to break 11 assists. Only thing Nash is better at is shooting. He is leaps and bounds ahead of Lin is that. But like I said, Lin started his 34th game on Friday. How many years has Nash been in the league. How many years did it take before Nash became the starter?
Cocaine is a helluva drug. There's plenty of pgs that are more athletic than Nash. Dude is a 2 time mvp.
If a PG can't score, that gives the defense space to sag off him and go double someone else, go under picks, etc. He doesn't have to be Westbrook but he has to be able to score to control the D and make things open up
What? CF has been telling me that he's an average PG. BTW, last Friday was Lin's 34th game as a starter.
who cares about locks and steal, a point guard needs to pass and score. Jermey Lin is a blew average player.
I haven't watched the last couple of games because of the horrendous coaching. I haven't b****ed about Lin,harden or Asik since they got here. They are very talented players put in stupid positions. Is the role they been issued that makes them look ugly by the coach and shotcaller Morey. Lin is a pg, harden is a sg. Patterson is a soft rebounder. Everybodys script is flipped. They put Patterson as a center. Trying to make Lin a spot up shooter. Harden trying to be Magic.
What does Jeremy need to do to not be considered a joke? I can understand if one says his hype is a joke, but Jeremy has no control over that. I really don't understand all the hate cus those numbers are no joke.
He's shooting 36%. That's pathetic. Remember all the **** Rafer got on this board? The same goes to Lin
I just found it really funny that last season people were complaining that Lin was a scoring pg and took too many shots. Now suddenly he is tagged as a pure pg. And people start to complain that why he can't score more? Unbelievable. Jeremy oh Jeremy, why can't you satisfy them all!
Nothing; it's just the nature of fandom. I mean, you've got someone on here wishing injury on Harden and Toney (someone with a 2002 date too). It's just stupid opinions posted anonymously on the Internet, as if we have any control over how well the Rockets play or what kind of player Jeremy Lin ends up being.
35.5% FG and 26.7% 3P are indeed pretty awful, but it wouldn't be the first time a Rockets starter has shot that poorly. From 1/17 to 2/4 last season, for 11 straight games, Kyle Lowry shot 35.0% FG and 25.0% 3P. For 9 games from 1/29 to 2/12 in 2006, Tracy McGrady shot 34.7% FG and 25.5%. McGrady shot that poorly again over 9 games in the 2008-09 season but he was struggling with injuries. And it's not just Rockets players, even shooting specialists like Ray Allen, Brent Barry, Raja Bell, Kevin Durant, Kyle Korver, Mike Miller, Reggie Miller, Dirk Nowitzki, Peja Stojakovich, and Jason Terry have all shot this poorly or worse in their careers.
