The difference is Lpwry actually had a huge stretch before that when he was performing at a top 3 point guard status. Lin literally hasn't had one spectacular game.
Won't disagree with you there. However, like Lowry I'll give him time. Dragic and Lowry didn't really perform until their second season with the team.
what the hell is almost a rookie, Lin is not almost a rookie, he's 24 and this is his 3rd year in the league. He airballed a game winning three that is as wide open as it gets, and has been underwhelming in all of his games here. And the majority of the forum didn't call him a scrub, only the OP did. I don't care if he's asian or martian, if you miss the rim by a mile on a open shot in crutch time you are going to expect emotional response from the fans.
Game two he had 21/10/7 and even in that game he was sharing the ball handling with Harden. Since then he has a usage rate that's near the bottom of all starting PGs in the league. But a hater like you isn't going to be interested in context.
Every time Lin has been allowed to play as PG he has performed just fine. He will never perform on this team as long as he is played as a 3 point specialist off the ball SG. Just as Asik would suck if you asked him to play as PF all of a sudden.
Lin has played a grand total of like thirty meaningful games. He barely played in GS. Its a weird situation with him. My guess is that he's going to be somewhere in between Linsanity and the Lin we've been seeing these past few games, when he finally settles down into a consistent role; which might take as long as next season. Still think he can produce 15/8 which in my opinion is good enough for his contract. Remember when Lowry and Dragic were averaging 20/10 (and above? I don't remember) they were vastly underpaid.
I think it'll get better as they all get more comfortable playing together. I'm more concerned about Asik. That dude looks lost more often than not :/
I am guessing that almost-a-rookie is another way of saying he hasn't been around long enough. Last season was the first time Lin even saw some meaningful playing time. His airball last night won't be soon forgotten but I am cutting the guy some slack for one reason. Lin is playing for Houston and Lowry is not. tbh, I could care less how well Lowry is doing NOW. As long as Lin is wearing ROX uni, I am rooting for him.
Forget about Linsanity. It's just a business trick. He's a mid-level PG from the beginning in his days at Golden State.
How has he been underwhelming? In the two games where he was actually given the ball to make plays he performed well. Short term memory loss. Since that stopped he now is playing a role he isn't made for. Honestly I think his scoring/shooting will improve. Joe Johnson, Josh Smith, Deron Williams, Steph Curry all have been struggling with there shots. It will come. I think by the end he will be between a 32-35% 3 point shooter.
Jeremy Lin isnt a SG he is a PG. After hearing Sampson's comments its clear they just want him to be a spot up shooter and to have Harden do everything. Just trade the guy if that is the plan. Whenever he starts managing the game we see the coaching staff chew him out. It is absurd. This whole passive storyline line is just rhetoric and the staff here clearly has decided that Harden will be the only playmaker. This will just hurt his efficiency. Harden gets buckets Lin is a PG wtf is with this gameplan?
uhhm lets see... 32 games as a starter. before last year he was glued to the bench playing like 1 min a game, he does not have even a full seasons worth of playing time under his belt. You're saying only the OP called him a scrub? really? have you not been reading the posts here? I give up, it's like you guys are living on another planet!! I'm starting to think alot of you just have it in your heads that this is all very normal. to constantly bash a good character guy for missing 1 shot in a regular season game. You would think that this team is 0-7 right now and Lin averaging 2pts, 2assists and 10 turnovers. REALLY!! 50 PAGES OF BASHING FOR 1 MISSED SHOT AGAINST THE CHAMPS IN 7th GAME OF SEASON, A YOUNG INEXPERIENCED PLAYER WITH UPSIDE, THE THREAD TITLE IS "JEREMY LIN IS A JOKE!!!" THIS IS ALL PERFECTLY NORMAL TO YOU?? CORRECT?? I just want to be clear on that so I know who I'm dealing with. no objectivity, no reasoning, you're only seeing what you want to see. I just realized I'm an idiot for arguing with someone with no objective reasoning.

But at the same time I don't think that shot defines him. People forget he is still working himself back into the NBA - he never had a chance to play a full season - with MINUTES. Fair post. I think people are just pissed he missed that badly (even though all misses are the same in the scorebook; in fact, his TS% was actually good on the night even with the miss). Ultimately, I was embarrassed watching the shot as a Lin fan (and you can see the embarrassment in his face afterwards). It's kind of funny because Lin makes a few "ugly" plays that people remember, and people don't remember the 20 other good plays he makes, especially the casual fans. Those who are pissed and are just angry I can understand. But those who have an agenda or have personal issues against him, I'm not ok with.
The Kyle Lowry 2000 + minutes was his year 2. Yes lin should have at least hit the rim, yes those who are mad frustrated etc have a right - the Rockets haven't been within shouting distance of the NBA finals in a long time. It shows how excited the fanbase is. Rage until your done!
Lin was cut from those teams for a reason. Maybe he isnt that good. Not saying he is trash and garbage but I dont think Lin is a starter in this league. What happened in New York was a hot streak but now he is back down to earth. Rockets jumped out the window signing him to so much money.
I feel painful when I saw his expression after the miss and immediately apologize to his teammates "my fault". Aww.
