Go ahead and root for Lin. I root for the Rockets every night, as I have for years...but for LOFHs start these constant threads bashing him, how are they better than a LOF? Your logic also makes no sense...because LOFs started shietting in this bed, you now feel obligated to KEEP shietting in it? wtf weird logic is that? It's not the whining about lack of fairness or whatever I was even talking about. I just mean for God's sake, can we have FEWER LIN THREADS IN THE GARM?! I bet 75% or more of the Lin threads in the GARM now are started by NON-LOFs. That's absurd. You can't start these threads bashing him then complain about all the Lin threads. This can't be emphasized enough. No matter which side of you the argument you are on, its cowardly. I would just leave it as a warning this time because if you were to email clutch about it he would take rep-giving privileges away from said individual.
Lin Only Fan. They're people who migrated over to CF because we picked up Lin ~2 seasons ago. They did not follow/do not follow Rockets basketball outside of how Lin does on the Rockets team. They have an overly positive and glorified view of Lin where he can do no wrong and all his faults are explained away or attributed to McHale's/other Rocket players' flaws...or things they hold against him. LOFs also love playing the race card when I highly doubt people here hate on Lin cuz he's asian...(unless you're some immature 16 yr old kid on the GARM, which I guess there are a few). This rubbed a lot of the other posters on CF the wrong way because, like all communities, they felt threatened by this new LARGE presence invading the GARM which used to belong to them. This new 'culture' was different and in their opinion, inferior (not to mention delusional and annoying). So they reacted. Hence, the rise of LOHs (Lin Only Haters) or LOFHs (term I like to use because everyone says they aren't a LOH and act all technical about the definition...). Either way, they're people who hate on Lin. They are EXACTLY the same as LOFs, except arguing the opposite end. It's as if the same people were arguing with each other, except one side is for the color blue while the other is for the color red. It's moronic. They go out of their way to insult Lin and rag on his downsides and attributes above the attention given other players. They, like LOFs, misuse stats and information to paint a worse picture of Lin. LOHs/LOFHs annoy me more though because they're much more presumptuous and holier-than-thou when they're just as bad. They also seem to post more than LOFs now, who seem to have mostly died off...so most threads in the GARM now about Lin are ironically created by LOHs/LOFHs (who also simultaneously complain about how many Lin threads there are...) ^yeesh, I could write a thesis on this crap
I don't know how you not understand the simplicity of it. Animosity does not disappear just like that. People around here have been pushed to the brink that a lot of us reflexively lash out at LoF's, trolls pretending to be LoF's, Lin fans, and Rockets fans praising Lin for a good play. As much as you hate this and I hate this and even LoF's now pathetically hate this, but until Lin is gone, it's going to be like this. Someone says something bad about Lin and LoF's and Lin fans take the bait. Some troll says something outrageous about LoF's and LoF haters take the bait. This is going to go on until Lin gets traded or signs with another team. ****'s not going to just stop because it makes no sense to continue, no matter how much anyone wishes for it before then.
Oh I see, you meant the human nature REACTION to it all. I had thought you meant you personally chose to respond in a certain way that resembled a kamikaze attack. So you also agree that this reaction is idiotic, but essentially impossible to prevent. I can agree with you there -- most people are dumb and knee jerk /shrugs. Yeah, I agree with you that until Lin is gone, half of the GARM will just continue being about Lin.
You know that is complete bull****. Hating because of "new culture?" That has to be the biggest fallacies I've read in a while. Hint * Hint *...it may have to do with putting everybody else down and blaming them for Lin's problems while hailing him to be better than MJ.
I didn't actually mean culture in the strictest sense...that's why I put quotes around it. I meant "culture" as in the way they all collectively think, i.e., that Lin is amazing and infallible. But at the same time, it's very similar to say a white country club that suddenly gets an influx of rich (but based on Western ideologies, classless) Chinese members. I don't mean asians who grew up in the states -- I mean asians who still do a lot of things that Western society finds rude. Spitting on the green lawn, talking very loudly at the dinner table, not following proper procedures or taking turns, etc. The original community will feel threatened by this new "culture" and react badly. It's like any immigrant group that comes into a set society. Please don't take my examples above literally though; I don't mean to say the reactions are based on the race or immigrant status of the newcomers. My examples just conveniently (inconveniently?) happened to include those variables. We can really pretend they're all one race if it'd help and my same argument would hold. It's an overreaction to any new group...a negative reaction. What would I have done, you know, as an adult? I would have reasoned and been nice to the LOFs; explained why their assessments might have been wrong and actually have reasonable debates with them on why their suggestions would not work, or hey, which ones would and which ones we honestly do not know the answer to. That ain't what I ever saw! I just saw pretty insulting negative reactions. I get they elicit those reactions, but that doesn't change what the reactions actually were...
Of course I find the rows idiotic. I wish more than nothing else that all this nonsense goes away. Here is the problem; fans knee jerk when players do bad, but most players don't have a fan base like Lin's to march quickly to his defense. For most players, it's rabble, rabble, rabble, ok no more to see here. With Lin is "OMG HOW COULD YOU, HERE IS A MOUNTAIN OF STATS THAT STATES OTHERWISE!" There are undeniably trolls that bait both LoF's and LoFH's too and it is unfortunate that we sometimes respond like moths to a flame. Bottom line is, this **** sucks and we can all agree on that. It unfortunately will recycle until Lin leaves and any LoF trolls get banned.
