For a 25 million contract, ppl have to accept whatever criticism and ridicule comes his way.. With big expectations comes big redponsibility and the good with the bad, I have no problem with ppl getting on him, just try not to be malicious. I was excited once we signed him but Im didappointed tgus, but I will give him more time to right the ship before concluding on him
I'm not an Air Lin hater or anything, but the air ball cannot even be justified. If you are a top 2 player on a team you cannot whiff on a big, wide-open shot like that. With that said, a miss is a miss and I'm surprised they fought their way back after being down so much early in the game.
Its more about the media and the relentless hype and magazine covers hes graced, and cashed in on a major contract after a small sample size amount of games played. Also throw in hes Asian and you have one lightening rod/polorazing person, faor or unfair, ppl gota understand that and deal with it.
Hater's "logic": 25 games of solid-to-extraordinary games = fluke and inadmissable as evidence 2 seconds of play that resulted in an airball = all the proof that one needs
He deserved all that hype and attention because of the huge obstacles he had to overcome due to his race. You'd think that in a league dominated by African-Americans, more of its members would appreciate and sympathize what it's like to break out of burdensome racial stereotypes.
Hey Roxxy. Good point. Perhaps we are not using him appropriately; maximizing his strengths. But he's still turning the ball over way way too much. He's shooting terribly from the field. He's not penetrating or finishing around the rim well. And i don't think he's doing a very good job facilitating offense. You are right to point out that he's doing a lot of other things well, and i am the first person to always say that at least when Lin is struggling offensively, his versatility keeps him from being a liability. I love his "busy hands". But even though i think it's unfair to write him off and be overly critical after just 7 games, i do think that if you are making what he's making salary-wise, you have to play much better than he has so far. Hopefully the coaching staff will cater more to his strengths as a player, and he'll improve the weaker parts of his game. I'm rooting for the guy! I still think he has a chance to be special. But I think people's concern is certainly warranted given the large contract for such a small track-record.
I agree, just stating the unfairness. I don't mind this thread even, because it was a bad shot he made. I'm sure if it was another player a thread would have been made also, but I do think there are some people who really don't like him and will just highlight anything bad he does.
Yup, Jeremy is one of the most polarizing players in the NBA right now. The hype machine kind of sets them up for a backlash. I blame Stern. Remember when Blake Griffin was the latest hot thing? Now it seems like a lot of people can't stand him and his flopping. It is what it is. I wish Lin was only making 3-4 million; I think people would lay off him then, and perhaps he would feel less pressure too. He's overthinking it for sure. GSW-style Lin is not a happy Lin. It struck me in his comments about MDA that he emphasized how much trust and freedom MDA gave him.
You make it sound like he's getting 25 million a year, he makes 8 mill a year, is that really that high in todays NBA? People make it sound like this guy is the highest played player in the league!! heres some other pg salaries: Jose Calderon, $10.5 million Steve Nash, $9 million Rodney Stuckey, $8.5 million Goran Dragic, $8.5 million Devin Harris, $8.5 million George Hill, $8 million Mike Conley, $7.3 million Kyle Lowry, $5.8 million Jarrett Jack, $5.4 million Andre Miller, $5 million
I wonder if people check the stats when they talk about Lins TO. His TO so far has been reasonable comparing to other PGs playing 30+ with similar usage rate, 12.2 TO ratio is far from being TO prone
He doesn't handle the ball enough to assess whether or not his ball handling skills improved. He is still turnover prone. From what I've seen so far and based on last season he gets in the paint and loses the ball. He doesn't read the defense and react the way he did last year. He drives and dishes it out or loses it. He's not aggressive enough which gives the defense time to collapse on him when he drives. He played bigger than he is last season, but this season he looks like he's about 5'11".
Until Lin starts being the primary ball handler instead of Harden, you will never see anything close to Linsanity, simple as that. That's his playstyle, he cannot be a spot-up shooter. You can say he's stagnated, unaggressive, etc all you want, but until he gets the ball in his hands majority of the time, you're gonna keep seeing the same stuff last few games.
Unfortunately Lin is playing at Jarret Jack/Andre Miller level at the moment. He should be even cheaper given his lack of extensive performance plus age. In other words, we're overpaying by at least 3.5M per year. That's a lot.
It is obvious that lin parking at the corner after passing to Harden is a set play by the coach because they happen times and times again, even right infront of the Rocket bench. If this is not a set play by the coaching staffs ,Lin will be yelled at and chewed and yank out of the court.PPat was yank against Detroit when he didn't get rebounds as demanded by the coach.Lin is not Harden he is not the savior. The coach believes Dougles is a better player than Lin,and they will not hesitate to sit him if he is not listening. When fans are comparing Lowrey,Dragic with Lin,they forgot that we don't have Harden then, where the offense now goes thru .I wonder how good Lowrey and Dragic will be playing now if they are in Lin's shoe. How good Steve nash,CP3,Rondo,Deron Williams will be playing in this Pass And Park offensive system.I just wondered.
I haven't read this thread but I can tell just by reading the title that this is one of those OPs full of news, respected articles and intelligent takes that Clutch was hoping for from the veteran posters. Go vets!! You guys who are all fixated on that airball of Jeremy's (and I'm sure there's more than a few), I think Chandler Parsons is calling you out here:
