A lot of people hate on Lin to spite his fans, because LoF's are very hate-worthy. I personally support Lin as a player on the Rockets (just skeptical about his abilities), but I hate his fans with a passion.
How long will the "he only missed a few gimme shots so it wasn't that bad" excuse going to last? I'm absolutely fine with Lin having off-nights once in a while, but his off-nights are far too often. He isn't hitting his shots, he isn't finishing well near the rim, and he hasn't been making adjustments. He has trimmed his TOs recently, which is a positive, but that's about it. I would prefer it if Lin started moving more without the ball. That would facilitate ball movement.
Who here is rooting for Lin to fail? Nobody is.. nobody. For Christ's sake, why do we even have this website/forum if all people are supposed to do is be "stepford fans" and tote the company line? As you said, when he fails, everyone fails.. and we are Rockets fans, so I pray to the highest that he succeeds.. even if I don't expect him to given his track record. PGs we had in recent years that I'd take over him.. Rafer Alston Kyle Lowry Aaron Brooks Patrick Beverly and (how did we let him go) Goran Dragic Now given the above list.. name the players who were making as much money as he was here?
FTW Rockets FTW"; On every game's thread, and whenever you had a chance on other Clutch thread forums, you always neither trolling or bash Lin. You said LoF is "insecure", But by doing what you did that make yourself feel "secure"? Your statement Lin has "Very very low BB IQ (amongst the worst in the NBA)" That is just Untrue.
He can drive to his right but everybody knows thats coming so he gets stopped and ends up picking up the dribble or going in the air to do a pass/shot/turnover. If he just works on his shooting to get the defender to respect it, then maybe will have more space to beat his guy with the dribble. Idk, the dude might not get another BIG contract if he doesnt improve next year greatly.
If this is the standard for good play, then there are a lot of posters who owe a lot of players and coaches an apology.
Are you a drama queen? You're either making this stuff up to troll everyone or spending more time on the LOF sites. This is ClutchFans. If you are so obsessed with LOFs and what they talk about you should go join their site.
They actually do. Fans veer from fanatical pro and con on players and coaches all the time. Think about how many people wanted to run Adelman out of town while during his tenure. Or Van Gundy. Like I'm shocked by how many Spurs "fans" go in on Popovich after games in their threads. It's like their brain shuts down and they completely forget the have the best coach in the NBA. On a game by game basis, you'll always find players who over/under perform in various aspects. The variance for scoring especially is quite high except for the All Star/Superstar players. And even for all stars, shooting slumps can last days, weeks, months, and even on rare occasion an entire season. For example, this year Ray Allen, arguably one of the greatest 3 point shooters of all time shot only 11% for a 9 game stretch (over 2 weeks). And as a long time veteran he's FAR more consistent than a younger player. The thing about scoring is it's usually more "in your face" than defense so people tend to notice and remember good/bad shooting nights. Lin's not shot well over the last 10 games, but he hasn't shot really badly either. His last 10 games are .392 vs career .440. And for the entire month of March he shot .435. Over the season he's shot about his career average and actually improved his 3pt shooting a bit. And contrary to what you would think, his shooting efficiency has improved significantly this year. His TS%, eFG% and 3pt% are actually at career highs over the season. http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/l/linje01.html#all_advanced Now take a look at his monthly splits. They're really not as bad as people think. http://espn.go.com/nba/player/splits/_/id/4299/jeremy-lin So yes, people are over-reacting. In psychology they call it "recency bias", in that we tend to build narratives that heavily weigh the most recent events. That said, over-reaction is kind of the bread and butter of internet forums. The only thing I find annoying is that it goes WAY beyond the expected norms for a player like Lin. It's really quite fascinating from a psychological perspective. There really are a ton of dynamics at work in terms of how Rockets fans vs Basketball fans in general view Lin. I'm have no doubt that there's plenty of folks in various schools writing papers on the "Jeremy Lin" phenomenon, perception bias, cultural stereotyping, etc, etc.
Amen. He did it the Toronto game and when I pointed out the fact that you have to recognize who you pass it to, I got bashed. He started with Omer for a season, on top of throwing a bad pass, you know that chances are Omer won't be able to catch it, and even if he does he won't be able to finish around the rim. Can't blame Asik when he is doing the job we need of him out there night in and out. And playing like an offensive powerhouse is not one of them. To the people bringing up back injury or w.e, that doesn't explain piss poor IQ plays.
Amen to that.. how can a guy be so smart to attend Harvard, and be so DUMB on the basketball court.. geez
Morey, please, please trade Lin in the offseason. He may prosper else where, he is not doing well here and the constant criticism is near unbearable.
After the onslaught of Lin threads one thing is certain: people are very touchy about Lin. There is a very simple way to alleviate the criticisms, and that is just to play better. It seems Lin's play alone is the culprit in the division of the forum.
