LOF's don't realize that Lin gets bashed more because of them, but yeah he'd still get bashed regardless because history has told us that players who don't live up to a contract get bashed. That's sports all over the world. (See Trevor Ariza). Of course, when that player years later is playing really well on another team, everyone wants to require him. (See Trevor Ariza).
The justification for that is you can turn the ball over even when not trying to create an assist. Howard has a terrible assist to TO ratio, but that doesn't create a fair comparison for his passing skills related to turnovers. Similarly, Harden will turn the ball over every now and again when he attacks the paint and gets the ball knocked loose or charges into an opponent. Of course last night there was that awful turnover where he flopped against Fisher and the ball just went out of bounds. But my point still stands Harden attacks the basket with the ball more than Lin does, Harden passes more than Lin does, Harden gets more FTs more than Lin does. Now you might say for every pass made, Lin racks up more assists and that might be true but it's very difficult to measure throughout a season.
Always with excuses for Lin and blame for everyone else. Maybe Jeremy should have noticed Harden was hurt. As for their AST/TO ratio, Lin is allegedly a point guard. His ratio is 48th of 49 PG on pace for 200 assists.
Jeremy Lin - Poor Handles - Very very low BB IQ (amongst the worst in the NBA) - Poor defensively - Average outside shooter - One of the worst contracts in the league (not his fault though) 31% shooting over the past four games, getting roasted defensively and yet LOF's believe he should be starter. Like I have always said, Lin is a way below average starting PG and just a good bench/role player at best.
You are correct. His BB IQ is terribbbbbblllee. If I knew how to make clips I'd be posting them so the LOF knew what frustrates the rest of us.
Jeremy Lin is the best..i would watch him play even if he was on the 76ers and a 20 game losing streak.
I think Lin is vastly over-rated by LOF's, but he is also vastly underrated by many non-LOF's. Wow. People don't see what he does on the court? He may not be shooting a high percentage but he ran the offense superbly yesterday. 1 TO in 38 minutes. Did you get that? And just as important, he scrambled the defense. He penetrated and forced switches, which is what you want. It may not get him a bucket, but it does help other players exploit mismatches and scrambled defenses. That's the biggest value he brings. And his defense was solid yesterday. Especially in the 4th quarter. I don't get how people complain about a few of his misses. Guy did his job last night.
Who am I blaming?????? I was responding to the comment that Lin had a terrible Assist to To ratio. If he does then Harden has a horrific ratio because it's actually worse. I don't mind honest criticism of ANY player but the amount of drama from both ends of the Lin spectrum is getting out of hand. My favorite anti-Lin poster used the word Pathetic to describe his play last night...reallly, pathetic???? If he hits the 3 layups he missed (6 whole points) we're talking about what a solid game Lin had. He had no real turnovers and helped with ball movement. He was middling on D..gave up a couple of easy baskets but overall held his man in check.
Thanks Lou...that's a solid observation. I mean let's face it. Harden was a BEAST last night and the reason we won, but his supporting cast played well for the most part. Parsons and Lin didn't shoot particularly well but they played decent basketball.
As long as Lin is playing aggressive, that is all I can ask for from him at this point. That blown layup after Lin decided to go 1 on 3 was ridiculous though. Same with that hang reversal that looked like an air ball, but hey, I want him to constantly be aggressive and misses come with that.
Here is a more factual based analysis of Lin's performance: - Took care of the ball very well against OKC. - Kept the offense moving, including the nice extra pass in rhythm to Garcia for the pivotal 3 pt shot late in the 4th quarter. - Played very good defense on Jackson. Jackson had only 2 points in Q4 and was 5/12 for the game when Lin was on the floor. - Shooting was not good. Missed layups he usually makes.Probably should've been 5 for 10 or 5 of 11 if he makes those layups. - He is paid $8 million per year (with some deferred to the final year). That is not an outrageous amount for a PG. Morey got great value out of him in year 1 and year 2 at $5.2 million. Rockets made the playoffs for the first time in 4 years with him starting 82 games last year, and would be 6 or 7 games worse in the loss column this year (the difference between a low and high seed) but for his key performances this year. The deferred payment is simply about how Morey structured the contract. So stop yer whining.
Parsons got to the free throw line 11 times and had primary responsibility guarding KD. He was the 2nd most important offensive player last night and had the most important defensive assignment. There is more expected out of Lin last night, especially on offense.
This needs to be a banner, or a sticky, or a billboard or something. I can't agree with that statement enough. Highs and lows, the truth is usually somewhere in the middle.
both... this thread is stupid. Why do people spend so much time hating their own players... hate someone elses player, dont hate your own teammates and wish they fail because in the end everyone fails.
No question, but it again goes back to the nature of the extreme comments regarding Lin. He really only played poorly with his shots. Parsons, played solid and provided a boost on D.
Can we please stop with the whole "maybe his back is injured" nonsense???? Since when does back pain force you into making dumb decision after dumb decision, and make selfish (yes I used the word) plays to get your own contested shot at the rim when you have a more than capable dunker wide open under the rim on a fast break? Back pain or no, there is no excuse to not being able to use your head in the game of basketball if you are a PG.
