Les is not that stupid. He should know that linsanity would never had happened if Lin stayed in Houston. Bottom line, bring Lin back was a bb decision that Morey had to make after letting Lowry and Dragic go.
I think it was a marketing move. Despite getting hurt and missing the playoffs Lin was still very popular and our team appeared headed to the lottery as it was constructed. Nobody will ever know but the rumor has always been that Lin was a Les move.
For a couple possessions and defensive moments in each game he is a joke but for the most part he's good when playing confident.
It's not dumb. Rockets picked up Lin hoping they could nurture his strengths and possibly help him overcome the huge holes in his game, thus having a good player on their hands. Two years later he just doesn't seem to be getting it. Still jumps in the air not knowing what he is going to do, still drives into the lane and picks up his dribble. Still terrible on defense. Still inconsistent as ever. You can fix shooting forms, you run drills, but the bottom line is you can't fix low basketball IQ. Seeing as how turnovers are one of the Rocket's biggest issues, it is absolutely fair for fans to get angry with his constant turnovers and poor decision making. Cool. Now what about 100's of other aspects of the game? Dragic is better and a Dragic led team is in the lottery.
Win/loss ratio is meaningless in these circumstances. Look at Clippers' W/L ratio without Chris Paul, or Houston's W/L ratio without Dwight Howard. If Lin is a team first player, then he needs to learn to play with Harden and Howard, not the other way around. Stop suggesting that Harden should start playing off guard and letting Lin do all the ballhandling duties, because that is anything but a "team first player" in this scenario. That would be minimizing the impact of an elite player for the sake of a role player.
Howard averages over 3 and Harden nearly 4. Jeremy 2.5 And Beverly is a TERRIBLE shooter (if terrible means the same regarding Lin's defense) Also, Lin hasn't been picking up his dribble in the paint nearly as much the past few weeks...
It's lottery bound because he is just not that good, and I'm not even trying to criticize him when I make that statement. He is a ball dominant, turnover prone point guard who has unreliable handles. These weaknesses would be exploited repeatedly if he is every team's primary concern. Furthermore, he is playing in the most competitive position in the league. There are very few teams in this league that would start Lin over their current PG, and no playoff teams would allow Lin to be the ball-dominant PG, even if he was not the 1st option. Honestly, making claims like "Lin has the potential to lead a team to the playoffs if he was 1st option" is setting the bar ridiculously high. It does nothing but justify more criticism when he has a poor performance. I don't understand why it's so difficult to just accept Lin as a good player with potential to be even better. The same people who proclaim him the next great thing and make comparison to Tony Parker and Steve Nash are the same people who turn around and justify a 3/11 or any other poor performance coming out of him (and McHale or Harden are always the ones to be blamed).
create a poll too - Which one of the following do you identify yourself as? Q1: LoF Q2: LoH Q3: LoFH Q4: None, I am a Rocket Fan lol wonder what the poll results might be
The main reason, not the only reason. Please learn to read. There a lot more reasons, but what do you think pushed Morey in the direction of Lin? Of course if he thought Lin was a scrub, he wouldn't have sign it, but I honestly doubt Lin would have been a first option, at least not after Linsanity significantly ballooned his price tag. At the worst, he gets a decent PG and at worst, the contract is only for 3 years. The point of the balloon payments was to pry them from their previous team and hope the gambles pan out. While for Asik, it obviously did, Lin is still very much undecided for me.
"Daryl Morey never believed that Lin will be our long term offense solution" you really aren't saying anything different then most lin fans, and god forbid, even a few lin fanatics would agree with you. now don't you feel dirty.. there's no reason for anyone to call you a LoH based on this post. i think it's pretty spot on.
I think in order to make that list more complete we'd need to add.... Parsons only fans Harden only fans / haters Mchale only haters Troll
Where did I say team's won't win if Lin was the first option? I said those teams are lottery bound if Lin was the 1st option, and I'm not insulting him when I say that. I would say the exact same thing for every single player on this team right now except for Harden and Howard.
Berveley just picked up his 3 point shooting % in recent games. At early of the season Lin's 3 point shooting was 50%+. Everybody have up and down in this team. You can't just compare 3 point shooting only, you have to compare the whole aspect ratio.
