I wasnt critical when he began his slump, I wasnt critical after a week in his slump, but the past two games his game is so bad its noticeable on every possession. He really needs to see a shrink cause his confidence on the court is gone and once he stops believing in himself his teammates will star losing confidence in him as well. Look at Casspi after a couple good games from Ham he responded with 16 Points to show the team and staff he is still there and can be used.
the fact that he's dealing with confidence issues right now is bothersome. it's half way through the season. this isn't a developmental season, we're contenders.
I generally agree with OP, but minutes got to be earned on the court, so there is no reason why coach plays Lin or other players for the sake of getting him out of his slump. I think a lot of LOFs don't bother to post while Lin is in the current slump, so let's enjoy this precious moment of less hate in GARM.
The funny thing is LOF's are the main people blasting McHale for everything. When the blasting gets reversed to Lin they freak out and act like rocket fans are out to get Lin. How about we just stop having knee-jerk reactions to everything and actually have perspective of how the grind of an NBA season is.
When he starts playing well, things will go way on their own. His play has been so bad lately that he is lucky to be seeing any time on the court. Folks on any fan forum of any sports are going to show their frustrations when someone on their team is playing this bad. It is the nature of the beast.
THIS. The knee jerk reactions are more than likely in response to the other knee jerk reactions. All the Mcfail crap....and PB hate etc.
I wonder how much worse Canaan could be? Like really, couldn't Canaan have done what Lin did today, and we won against the defending champs? There is no doubt Canaan would hit the three at a better percentage, and it'd be hard for him to make worse passing/ halfcourt decisions wouldn't it? Sure, Lin can drive the lane and finish in traffic, but he's simply not doing that of late, looks tentative etc. The only reason Lin gets so much hate, is because he gets so much irrational love. I think it is perfectly reasonable to expect an $8.3million player to produce isn't it?
I feel like people are so used to Beverley's tenacity and energy on the court that they are upset when they see a noticeable drop once Lin comes in the game. Normally, when Lin produces, that difference is compensated for. When Lin is playing the way he is lately however, people are disappointed.
he doesn't have to repeat his numbers at the beginning of the season, but he has to start heading back in that direction. it's a net negative having him out on the court. at least it's happening now and not around the playoffs.
^True, Bev playing the game of his life on NBA TV vs. the champs while Lin is regressing Frustrating to say the least
It is troubling for sure. However, I'm not completely surprised as there has been a lot of changes happening very quickly on this Rockets team. With the emergence of Beverley as the coaching staff's "main guy" combined with a general slump, I'm not surprised that Jeremy might feel a little ostracized from his former role on the team. It isn't a developmental season, but the Rockets should do all they can to get Lin out of his slump because a good Lin is a great asset in the playoffs.
I hate to say it. But basketballhollic may have been right even though he looked like an idiot at the time and I called him out on it. The only difference right now is Canaan isn't familiar with the team while Lin is.
I think Jlin is weak emotionally and just listens to all the criticism of the fans have to say, that's why he is playing the way he is and can't get out of it. He needs some encouragement, some positive motivation, not people condemning him and criticizing him all the time. He's playing emotionally hurt.
