For those of you that think Lin and Dragic are comparable and the difference is minimal i have a bridge to sell you !
Oh you would be surprised. I've read enough on this board to see both extreme. You got it all there. The lunatic who thinks Lin is doesn't have any flaws and the hater who thinks every loss is on Lin.
So there are people who think that Jeremy Lin will one day join Chris Paul and Derrick Rose as the NBA's best PGs? There aren't that many franchise PGs in the league. Got plenty of good ones, but only a few you'd build a team around.
Again, what are you basing this on? The best evidence we have, which was his run with the Knicks, suggests that he'll be a decent PG. What's the evidence against Lin? Is it: The last couple of games he's played with the Rockets? His lack of NCAA pedigree? His race? Your gut feeling? Obviously, a 25-game sample isn't that reliable. But it's better than anything we've got so far, so it's more likely than not that Lin WON'T be a failure. Yet there are hordes of people who just know that he's a scrub. There's no way to know right now. Give him time. Hell, there are people who still think John Wall is a shiny prospect.
Geraldd posted his Lin highlights including the airball. He told Harden "my fault". What's important is his teammates don't seem to blame him unlike the majority on this forum.
That's not accurate. He's been cut by multiple teams and went undrafted. He had an amazing stretch with the Knicks but like you said it's a small sample. -I think he's played poorly with the Rockets and it's what I expected to happen so I'm not surprised. If we were playing (and paying) him as a backup pg I'd be content with that. I realize we don't have a better option at this point so it is what it is but Lin is not our future at the position. Never was. -His NCAA pedigree isn't lacking. He had a great college career -Bringing up race is ignorant. -Gut feeling plays a large role. I just don't think he's a good player. That's not a ringing endorsement. Our PG situtation is probably the worst in the NBA. Douglas gets signifigant PT. That's how bad it is. And hordes of people who think he's a star and make excuse after excuse as to why he's struggling. I don't like McHale but he's not the reason Lin isn't playing well. I hope he proves me wrong. I just don't see it. There isn't a gm in the league that wouldn't take Wall over Lin. They'd toss in their next 3 first round picks too.
I'm sorry, but this thread is sick because it's focusing on one air-ball while ignoring a millions things he's done right, and another million things the team has done wrong. This kind of reaction thread is no worse than racism itself. I mean look at Chalmers today, a lot worst than Lin. Yet the most heat fans on their board was okay with his play. This is just sickening to the core.
There are excuses & then there are just facts. He is a PNR PG who doesn't have a roll man. He needs screens/picks set for him but teammates are doing it lackadaisically or not at all. He needs shooters to spread the floor so he can have space to attack Rockets are a poor 3 point shooting team therefore teams pack the paint. He needs the ball in his hands to be effective, the ball ins't in his hands nearly enough. In fact, harden needs these things as well, there is a reason why both players have been struggling thus far.
Lin's airball came at an inopportune moment, granted. But people here are acting like they have never seen a anyone airball it in the NBA. Ridiculous.
"He's been cut by multiple teams" essentially means that he didn't play well during practices and scrimmages. You can't compare that to real NBA games. And when he did get a chance to play significant minutes in the NBA, he was at least above-average. This is easily the most significant, albeit incomplete, evidence we have. Also, I disagree that he's played "poorly". After the first couple of games, the whole league was abuzz about the Rockets' backcourt. Obviously, that was hype, but players who play "poorly" don't get that kind of feedback. Now, you could say that he's been disappointing, but that would call into questionable of just what your expectations were. I agree that Lin's projection is a big unknown because of his unorthodox path to the NBA. But if we're going to be truly objective and use the best evidence we have, then we can cautiously say that it's more likely than not that he has a chance to become quite a good PG in the NBA.
Lin does not have the physicality to be a startng PG in the NBA. He is a great athlete by many standards but not by this one. He fades and he breaks down. He's suited to be a fine backup PG. But Morey went all plantation on Dragic so here we are.
Who's the best 3 point spot up shooter PG we can get? Cuz the way we're strategizing, that's exactly what we need.
I was already sick of new 2012ers making Lin threads for seemingly no apparent reason on pointless BS, I really don't need to see veteran Rockets posters here doing the same thing. Seriously, it's like no one else on the team matters now. It's either Lin good or Lin bad. On a night where Parsons, Patterson, and Asik held firm against Lebron, Bosh of the Heat, no one seems to give a damn about them. It's like everyone's getting pulled into this whirlpool of Lin debates in lieu of everything else.
BUT BUT HURR DURR LIN IS GETTIN PAID 8 MIL A YEAR OMGGGG!!! Seriously, people are acting like they're paying Lin 8 mil a year out of their own pockets. Stop using that as an excuse to hate him until it stops us from getting another max player.
What on earth are you talking about? He has excellent size for a PG. Are you questioning his conditioning?
This is more like a rejoicing thread for the haters. If anything, a chunk of them are happy that he airballed. For me, it was painful.
