Lin didn't have as bad a game as some said earlier in this thread... But anyone that thinks he had an average or even good game is kidding themselves. He was bad, that is why he played 15 minutes. The Rockets need Lin for the playoffs. The Lin roller coaster is old, you never know what you will get ... But when he is confident, he is huge off the bench so let's hope he figures it out.
I know that's all you care about. Lin reaching his season averages All I care about is the Rockets win and Lin was for the most part a non contributer to this great massive victory. He had a bad game. Not an atrocious one and no where close to a good game as you call it. Watch The games without the Lin colored goggles next time
Lin really didn't attack the basket aggressively often tonight. It's an issue when he's in there with the bench-heavy group. He did make a couple of decent drive and kicks but they were to DMo and he missed the shot.
Lin played OK imo. He has clearly been hampered by his back as he is unable to blow by anyone and his handles are even shakier than before. Can only hope that he heals quickly- the Rox could use him.
ugh, a couple times DMo tried to imitate Parsons' pump fake and drive off the Lin passes instead of shooting the 3- you never, I repeat never want him to do that - good things do not happen.
Let just put it this way, he played better tonight than his last 2 games. Still not good enough but at least there is a sign of improvement.
His presence on the court helped the team with his help defense. He hit a nice 3 to stretch the lead to 13 or so. He fielded a lot of off target passes, kept the ball moving and took the bail out shot when others couldn't make anything happen. The bench was not as effective as the starters but that had more to do with Beasley and just some more intense play from the defending champs after Lin's 3.
If not him, practice more with Hamilton as the ball handler. This guy has yet to disappoint and is proven. Got handles to get to the rim against anyone yet has the shooting touch from outside. Rox need to invest more in Hamilton training in practice at this point. He could also give Harden rests from now until the PlayOffs.
Looking at Linsanity, last season, and the beginning of this season, it was a completely reasonable argument that Lin could develop into a top point guard with borderline all-star potential. Give him the ball and minutes, allow him to make mistakes, and let him playmake - you've got a 18/3/8 player with good FG%. Obviously he's not playing well now and is not being utilized the way that would be optimal for his style of play. He is out of his comfort zone, playing sporadic minutes, and it shows. However, He has played well enough recently (several games of high double digit scoring, triple double, etc when given 30+ minutes) enough for many of us to believe he is in a slump and can come back. As a fan of Lin, my expectations of his potential has not changed much. I do recognize that with the way he is being used these days and with the way the starters are clicking, he will likely just be "average" at best on the Rockets. I hope I am wrong.
7 pts 0 assists and -14 isn't cutting it, he better get his sh** together, playoffs are right around the corner.
Does anyone have that gif of him going past half court and dribbling it off his right leg (with no one guarding him)? It was right before this picture of Bickestaff. It's soo unreal I have to see it again.... I don't even see that stuff in my neighborhood pick up games.
His mojo is down. He's an emotional player which is both good and bad. Once you put him on the trading block, it's a kill or be killed situation. I'm still maintaining my stand that Rockets should have traded him and Asik. I understand though Morey was not given a good trade thus they stayed. I just hope they can play their ass until they are set free next year. Hopefully they can be traded next year out of Houston. It's so hard to concentrate on a game when you see lackadaisical players. Rockets doesn't need these kind of players. They need well-motivated players who can kick-ass whenever their numbers are called.
Help defense? You mean OVER help defense? And no, he actually didn't move the ball. He pulled the same hesitant BS he always does. I don't mind bias with the aim of excusing Lin and saying he'll pick it up, but what you are doing is straight up lying. If you can't see that, our debate is fruitless. I think you are respectful poster so even the part of me that wants to put you on ignore won't do it, but I can't have meaningful discussion and waste my time anymore.
Lin can make any catch, and I haven't seen him fumble a catch. I thought he had small hands or what not but I was wrong. His turnovers are no based off of making passes and he can't drive that well. He's been hiding back spasms for weeks to a month now. I see it and I know this kid needs a better trainer and nutritionist if he wants to make it in this league. Too many injuries while playing with them.
Lin knows better. Heat wait on him to drive and once he does they send a weak side defender on him to force a turnover. The reason he was giving the ball up as soon as he could.
In the larger picture of the game this result was decided by the play of Beverley, Jones and the other starters. But this thread has been a pile on Lin and his actual play in limited minutes was a lot better than suggested by the critics.
Lin was pretty terrible tonight, there really is no defense for him at all. He's just been horrible. Whatever is holding him back, he needs to get it together because he is proving himself to unreliable game by game; he's better than this crap.
