Fair enough. I am a Lin fan, and I agree that he did not play well in the last few games. I wish him and the team well. That's all. But to blame him for everything is not right.
Our wins show that we can win many, many games when Lin is playing like a little girl. Our loss show that when we struggle, we can still count on Lin to play like a little girl and help our losing cause.
Nobody is blaming him for the loss. People are saying he needs to get his **** together, because he's definitely contributing to the loss. This is an embarrassing post. You're attacking Beverley because Lin is playing poorly? Beverley does fine as a spot-up three point shooter. He's not the best, but it's enough given everything else he contributes. Lin brings basically nothing when he isn't scoring the ball - which he's been doing very little of lately. Your solution to cure him is to stick him back in the starting lineup??? Uhhhh no thank you. Stop making excuses for him, and stop trying to blame other people for his struggles. And for the record, the assist stat is pretty damn worthless. I would stop obsessing about it so much... and that goes for all of the Lin fans who freak out every time "another blown assist for Lin!!!!!" happens when a shot that at best has 50% chance of going in doesn't go in.
the rockets will be fine with bev starting. harden controls the ball and lin would be useless starting next to him.
I was responding to this post below by this guy who called Lin the 6th man. So ask him what you're missing if anything....
Lin is scrambled in the head. No confidence. He thinks linsanity was a fluke. Lin is a lamb not a lion. No aggressiveness. He's been neutered by alpha dogs. He's submissive. Doesn't make things happen how he wants them to. Doesn't take charge. Whiny. Lin needs to get his groove back. Maybe have sex with a big booty black girl. Or a kardashian. Get some base in his voice. Maybe smoke a Newport. Drink some beer. Burp. Scratch his balls. When he hits the court he needs to focus on feeling some type of way. Get grimy. Maybe forgoe a shower. Be a little funky. Maybe go see some strippers with harden. Listen to some rock n roll or hip hop. Maybe some country music. Commit some sins then pray about it. Lin has to develop an edge. He has physical ability but his mentals are weak. Take a page from Beverly and get up in dat ass sometimes. Be aggressive. He's not skilled enough to not play without an edge. He's got to make up for it with some junk yard. But I doubt this'll happen. If it does I'd be shocked. In the meantime maybe give Canaan some burn to either beat Lin out or awaken his inner **** it.
With all the attack on Lin after the loss, people forget that he was +2 during his time on court. The starters couldn't get it going. When the 2nd unit came in, they played well and got us back to even with the Clippers. Here is what the game day analysis says after the game: "Houston went on a 33-14 run between the end of the first and start of the second quarter, with some combination of Asik, Motiejunas, Hamilton and Jeremy Lin on the floor for the entirety of that stretch" Bev had a bad game. Lin too by his offensive standard. But at least he made things happened with his unit. He might not be the scorer. But he facilitated with his playmaking. He had 6 pts, 2 steals and 3 assists with 2 TO in 18 minutes whereas Bev had 5 pts, 0 steals, 2 assists with FOUR TOs playing starter's minutes, and Lin is singled out for attack and bashing as if he has contributed to the loss. That is why this thread is a joke, perhaps more jealousy motivated or even worse, racially biased. If you want to attack his performance last light, attack Bev too. At least express your disappointment in Bev's consistently low assist# and pts. That will be more fair and your opinion more believable. Otherwise I consider this nothing but a hate thread directed against one Rox player and it should be shut down.
Explain how the number of assists a player gets matters? Player A passes to Player X. Player X shoots an open 3, with 50% odds of going in. Player X makes it, Player A records an assist. Player B passes to Player X. Player X shoots the same 3, and misses. Player B does not record an assist. Tell me how that makes player A better. Guess what, people who make player evaluation decisions don't even look at the traditional assist stat from a box score.
Here's another scenario: JJ Redick curls around 3 perfectly placed screens throughout a play by Matt Barnes, Blake Griffin, and Deandre Jordan. Chris Paul dribbles for 5 seconds while the play develops, then gives him the ball when he's wide open. Redick hits the shot, Paul records an assist. Tell me, how amazing was Paul on that play, and did he do more than Barnes, Griffin, or Jordan?
Again, failing to look at context and claiming Lin played well. Harden was the primary ballhandler during the run, Lin looked lost when he had the ball, and Hamilton hit open 3s. Most of the Clippers starting lineup was on the bench, but that doesn't matter to you either, does it? Harden had to come back in sooner than normal in the second quarter because Lin couldn't do anything and the Clippers went on a run to take a small lead back.
Ok, fair point. As I pointed out in an earlier post, it was not all on Lin. But to say that he made things happen, is just ridiculous. 6 points and 3 assists for someone that should be our offensive spark of the bench is not making things happen. And the reason why people attack him so much (to dislike of many lin fans) is because of how much he is getting paid. If someone gets paid that much just to provide an offensive spark and is doing anything but, then he will get criticized. I have come out and questioned James Harden's defensive effort, so don't just make this about 'Oh everybody is attacking Lin'. He is supposed to be what Jamal Crawford is for the Clippers, OFFENSIVE SPARK PLUG OFF THE BENCH. Jamal Crawford is averaging 19 pts- 2.3reb-3.2ass a game this year. While JLin is averaging 12.7 pts- 2.6reb-4.4ass a game this year. Somewhat comparable other than Crawford scoring 7 more points a game and................ wait for it............. wait for it.............. is making nearly 4 million dollars less a year than Jeremy Lin.
of course assists matter. yes, you can record an assist if you just give the ball to someone and they make a jump shot. but you can also record an assist by breaking down the defense and giving your teammate an easy, high percentage shot.
Your total fondness of Bev for his D ignoring everything is the real joke and embarrassment. His weakness as a starting pg on a contending team is obvious and yet BOF choose to ignore it. At least I am fair to recognize both the strength & weakness of Bev & Lin whereas you refuse to acknowledge the obvious flaw with Bev's game. I don't defend Lin. I criticize his weaknesses whereas you protect your boy as if he is perfect fit. None of them is a good fit for the team. I am pointing out the reality for you BOF that Bev starting is not highway to heaven. I did not defend Lin. I point out his problem and suggest how the team can use him to his strength to get some value back since we can't trade him this year and next. I speak for the benefit of the team, whereas you speak for the benefit of your favourite Bev. Don't get me wrong. I like Bev as a person, his tough journey back to NBA, his ultra energy and suffocating ball pressure defense. I am not biased against him like you against Lin. I am just being realistic. His lack of offense will forever rob this team of championship if he stays as the starting pg. Period. We need to get a real PG with some offensive capability, even the likes of Collison or Jackson (OKC) or Jaret Jack are better than Bev and given us some chance.
