This thread is about Lin. Take the Bev-Lin comparison to one of the other gazillion threads. Overall yes. I have said for a long time we have two below average PG's who are not starting caliber and need an upgrade. We have to do with what we have noe.
but that is the problem. many people on this thread seem to think lin is trash. well, if that is so, you need to trade him for another team's trash. and hopefully get slightly better trash. rumors seemed to suggest that there were deals on the table for lin but morey didn't like what was offered in return. looks like a morey mistake to me.
Trash that expires in 2 years is better than trash that expires in 3. Don't worry. Morey will trade in Lin and Asik's cap figures off the books in 2015 and replace them with a star player.
Thankfully, Beverley has been up to the challenge in most games than not. And doesn't go for consecutive games looking like a scared little girl who can't make shots and won't attack the basket. Not that I expect LOFs to understand that the frustration with Lin is an accumulation of many disappointing games rather than a single game. I'm sure you guys have already blocked out every single bad Lin game in his history. It would be the only reason why there are posts that still go back to his Cleveland game as reference for his awesomeness. Yes, if you take away all of Lin's bad games, then he is indeed awesome.
The thing with Lin is his contract (although terrible) still expires after next season. There is no point in taking on any deals longer then that. Of course the Knicks would kill to unload Felton (a fat pg who yawns in the huddle and will be spending time in prison) and JR Smith (who cares more about untying players shoes and messing with headbands then he does about winning games). Nobody wants either of those two guys. I think we can all agree Lin's signing was a mistake but it is what it is. There's nothing you can do about it now.
Its more like we saw how the entire team sucked. Just like yesterday. If JLin is no allstar why is he such a huge factor in your analysis from winning to losing? Why don't you analyze the effectiveness of the starters? All i saw was the bench was much more better than the starters yesterday.
Ummm because players are allowed to have off days once in a while and when that happens others are expected to pick up the slack esp. a 8 million guy expected to play good minutes if he plays well. Lin OTOH has consistently sucked off late!!
Those who judge player's contract good or bad have no idea what the **** they are talking about. Les pay the money. That's it. Understand?????
I have a feeling that he was probably playing to be traded by the deadline. If you remember that interview where people were asking about trade rumors involving him, he looked all giddy while refusing to answer. Perhaps, Morey should have done the Rondo deal to prepare for the next year. Beacause as things stand, Rockets don't have a chance to win anything next year either.
Considering you can't even put a coherent sentence together I don't think you're in a position to criticize anyone.
Lin is the 6th man. His line is to hold the fort down. You can only hold it down for so long. The starters couldn't get it going therefore we got ran over. If the starter gave us significant lead and Jlin line cause the bust then I'll b****. He was paid 8 mill to be a starter....not his fault the team went different direction. When Harden or Bev was injured he played at starter level, IMO.
So you're saying having bad players does not affect winning or losing? Is this really the intelligence of LOFs? Maybe you should ask Bucks fans whether or not Ilyasova sucking should be factored into their pathetic season so far.
LOL, so the only requirement of the 6th man or the bench is to hold the fort down? Have you watched much basketball?
Lin used to get 6th man minutes when he was backing up harden and beverley. but now with hamilton in there, lin seems to be strictly the backup pg playing less than 20 min. we also haven't been seeing the bev + lin backcourt anymore.
Look, I'm sorry to all the Lin lovers or fans. But he really is under-performing. He's not even starting, which supposedly should take pressure off. But he comes into the game and he looks like he's playing AFRAID. AFRAID to make a mistake, and that usually leads to many mistakes. Yesterday, in multiple occasions i saw him pass up on shots while he was in mid-air and basically just give the ball away. Or go to rim, and because he expects to get a call he stops playing and looks at the ref (like what the hell). Which leads to easy transition points for the other team. He supposedly should be providing an offensive spark of the bench, and he is looking horrible. The only reason we stayed in the game, while harden and howard were out, was because of Hamilton hitting consistent threes. And NO I'm not saying its all on Lin because PARSON's was horrible yesterday. But he has been the most INCONSISTENT player in our rotation, that is still in our rotation. Casspi and Garcia are other examples of players that became inconsistent, and look where they are now (at the end of the bench)
To some fans mind Lin was responsible for the L yesterday? Is that supposed to be an insult to the starters and coach?
I think you guys are missing the point and the point is that he sucks. The eye test, asking any basketball fan or coach will tell you the same thing, the games Lin has been rolling out are the kind that Dleague players pull.
Bev makes things happen? How so? Give us a break. His assist number is so low how can he make thing happen? Other contending teams look at his assist number and probably shake their head or LTAO. Why? Because they probably think Morey & McHale are out of their mind to think that they can have a starting pg playing just D and no offense plus next to nothing assist and think they have a chance to a championship. During playoffs, every team plays knock down D. Houston's offense will be like 4 against 5. Worst, the two stars will be doubled and tripled teamed while teams ignore Bev. And Bev can't assist to help others getting points easier. In tough playoff games, getting some easier points is a must because it is very hard to score one-on-one when each team is playing such a tough D unless you are MJ, LBJ, or Kobe. This is a fatal flaw for Houston. We have zero chance when we play 4 against 5 on offense literally with Bev starting. What is the chance that Bev will play offense consistently compared to Lin playing pg aggressively without high TO. Both have very little chance. But I will put my bet on Lin being able to step up if he is given the minutes and the starting pg back. Why? Because he had done it before and proved that he can when he is the starting pg with minutes and when McHale does not bench him the minutes he is off his game. Yes, he is mentally weak when he feels he is slighted by the coach. No doubt. But if we are not going to get rid of him this year and next, may as well give him the starting job back and see if he can perform to his potential. Don't use his limited playoff experience to attack him. It was his first playoff. Every one deserves learning curve. What was some of the stars like when they went to playoff in their first full year of play? Give Lin a break. Bev can always be called in to play D but he being so limited on offense shouldn't be starting. 4 on 5 on offense can only carry you so far by star power of Harden & D12. You can cheat playing bad teams. But good teams will tear you apart when you have that fatal flaw in your offense, especially during playoff. End of story for our championship aspiration with Bev starting.
