maybe his problem is being SMART. average graduate from Harvard makes an average of 60s k/first year . then 110 k$ a few years later . now with millions of $$, he has enough the capital to generate more cash than playing BB. and that maybe on his mind every single day (pre- occupied with Biz rather than focusing to be a better player) Dream for example made about 100 million $ through his career . but made 120 million more from investment . Magic made above 1/2 billion $.
I don't think the issue is Lin not shooting well. Anyone watching the game can see he isn't playing with the same fire or mindset that he was before the all-star break. People are getting frustrated because he's simply not doing anything on offense, and often times putting the offense in a bad position by being hesitant and stopping on drives. People want to blame it on a "short leash" or whatever, but the dude is in the NBA. He needs to get over whatever issues he has and just go out and play regardless of context. The Rockets are trying to win games, if he's a negative on the court they aren't going to keep playing him just to keep him emotionally stable. They're counting on him to go out and play like any other player in the NBA should, regardless of minutes.
I posted in the first couple of pages, I come back after 12 hours and there's 244 pages. Can someone summarize for me please?
I agree on all points - he needs a psychologist or just to man up or something, but you have to admit that the knee jerk thing is very real - just go back thru the game thread vs Phoenix, it's kinda scary.
I agree that the backlash against Lin has been crazy quick and intense, but I mean look at the context. You have his crazy fan club always blaming everyone else for his struggles, you have vitriol going back and forth incessantly between his fans and others, and then you have his importance to the Rockets and how poorly he really has played of late... it's a powder keg waiting to explode. It gets incredibly frustrating seeing the inconsistency, and it's nobody's fault but his own. He was invisible last night, only noticeable when he had stupid turnovers or a flubbed layup. The reaction from a lot of the posters is a little eye-roll inducing, but I think everyone can see that he just isn't playing well... which compounds the frustration because we've all seen him play so, so much better. The difference between Jeremy and a lot of other players is that it's not so much missing shots that he normally makes that lends to his "bad games", it's that he looks like a completely different player during his bad games.
the ironic part in all of this...if the determining factor in Lin over Dragic was the player option. Dragic is playing so well he way just decline it.
He is wildly erratic. My guess is that he "thinks" too much. He often seems like he can't get into the flow of the game. We know he has serious skills, but he can't seem to marshal them on a nightly basis. I also think he has a confidence problem. When he doesn't do well, he gets down on himself and does worse. We really need him; I hope he pulls himself together.
That's just an excuse. Besides didn't your Mom ever teach you if you Never argue with an idiot. They'll only bring you down to their level and beat you down with their experience. How about if you are not part of the solution, you're part of the problem or it's better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than to open it and remove all doubt. At least LOF's are clear about their agenda. The haters are all over the board. Most won't admit the real reason for their deep seated hate. But make no mistake about it their hate is real and as diverse in motivations as a baskin robbins is in flavors. Some hate because he makes too much money. Some hate because China owns USA and all their shoes are made their. (Okay I hate that too but I don't blame it on Lin). Some hate because he's smarter than them and they can't afford Harvard. Some hate because he's Asian. Some hate because he's Christian. Some hate because there are too many lovers. Some hate because he is more popular than his favorite player and some have a combination of all the above. But in the end he is not a bad guy and he is a Rocket. McHale doesn't have to play him. But he does because Liin is the best backup we have right now. So I say don't make excuses for the haters. And do part to be part of the solution.
I wouldn't call it Lin hate, but there are lots of bitterness seeing Dragic doing so well making less money than Lin and Lin sucking. Dragic and Lin are similar type of player and lots of fans think the Rockets didn't do enough to keep him. And Lin's last night performance further fueled the disappointment. Lin will always be heavily criticized regardless of crazy Lin fans as long as Dragic continues to shine.
Lin's continued to be inconsistent/erratic throughout this season... good at times, god-awful at others. This variability is showcased by most "average" NBA players. Lin came with expectations that he should have never accumulated, mainly due to having success in the NY market.
Jlin hasn't been read his Bible lately because he's been looking "lost" on the court at times. He needs to get back on the right direction and that is by reading His Word.
It's painful to watch him play at the moment. He looks like a totally different player compared to the way he played when he was in New York. But his default position on offense on this team seems to be just go and stand in the corner and wait for the catch and shoot. I'm not sure why the coaches are using him like Shane Battier when D'Antoni had much better success with him used like Steve Nash.
I agree with your second statement, but is it not true that all Rockets players have had slumps and other times when they're flying high? On the last game specifically, Lin clearly did not have lift or energy and was coming up short on everything, but he did at least try to penetrate and was able to make some nice plays and get assists within our rather stagnant offense. Obviously not a great showing by any means, but overall, our team barely made it out with a win in that game. Also, disclaimer that I didn't watch the majority of the 1st quarter, so let me know if he was considerably worse then.
Can you imagine how he'd be treated right now if he had stayed in New York post-Linsanity and his numbers tumbled like this? I think Lin fans have to admit that moving to Houston was a blessing in disguise. I mean, he's still alive.
