Tyson Chandler is what he is a very solid defensive center and probably one of the best, if not the best pick and roll big man in the league. He can very well be an offensive monster with the right system and point guard because he has an incredible finishing rate with those lop dunks and pick and rolls.
Chandler had the highest FG% even before Lin played sig minutes on the Knicks. He is a great finisher when he is very close to the rim. It's just that his PPG increased after Lin started playing cause he got more touches as a result of Lin finding him via pick n roll or whatever-the other guards before Lin weren't very good pick n roll players. People say Chandler benefited a lot from Lin, but I think Lin really owes his contract and "Linsanity" to Chandler to a large extent. If it were Omer on that Knicks team, they probably wouldn't have won as many games.
Then why are such skills not apparent when playing with other good point guards like Felton and Kidd? Why is it that Lin was the only one who could make him dominate? Might it be because Lin has a special knack for feeding his big man, particularly on the PNR? It might be a tautology, but without Lin, there is just no Linsanity.
Apollo, It obvious that some of these 'fans' have not started watching basketball since last year. back in the day, i had an argument with a 'jordan' fan, so i asked him who the starting lineup of the bulls were. he only named pippen.
So? It was certainly not because of him beasting on the offensive end but anchoring one of the best zone defense I've seen (and Lebron choking but that's another topic).
He was playing with CP3 for crying out loud and even him did not make him have such a high offensive production as in the linsanity stretch. Chandler's offensive game was properly recognised during linsanity, deal with it.
This is what happens when a non-LOF wants to support Lin. "Lin is a good player" "Not just good, he is in the same caliber as Irving, Rondo etc." "I don't think so, he is good but not that good" "You are a LOH, are you even a Rocket fan?"
Mr. Andersongo, what you've just said*... is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone on this board is now dumber for having read it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul... [edit]
The crux of my argument is that Chandler's elite offensive skills is utterly dependent on PGs that can play the PNR expertly. The guy can only catch and dunk. Chandler's output is directly contingent on the guy feeding him. And no, Lin is not on CP3's level, a sure-fire HOF; I only said that Chandler's offensive production was maximised during the Linsanity stretch, it could be that Lin's the greatest PNR genius ever (less likely) or a result of D'Antoni difficult offensive sets being run by someone adept at it (more likely). Lin is just a young PG who has yet to prove that Linsanity was not just a flash in the pan but people (and my position is that he is a bad fit with Harden and should be traded for a "lesser Harden" so that something like the triangle offense can be implemented) have got to give props where props is due: replace Lin with Felton, a good PNR PG in his own right, and Linsanity would still not happen because Linsanity is much more than Chandler catching Lin's pass for a double-handed dunk. Call me an idiot if that make you happy. Better still, call me an LOF so that King1 can get off. I'm out.
Linsanity was Linsanity because of Lin's background and story. If Chris Paul or Derrick Rose had been a Knick, people wouldn't have been surprised by that kind of play. A third string pg, undrafted and twice cut, only Asian American in the league who went to Harvard for Pete's sake -- now that's a story. As for the second bolded part, I don't know what to say. Have you heard of Patrick Ewing? How about Sprewell? Are you a troll?
