Kyrie is a tremendous player not saying otherwise. Just saying I would take Jrue over him & i don't think Kyrie is the second best PG in the NBA.
Linsanity happened last year when both Melo and Stat were out. Goes to show how little you know about JLin and yet hate him with such passion.
I don't really follow them enough so can't really comment on it. I just think just using the Cavs being mediocre as a way to judge him is wrong.
Do you think that Linsanity can be recreated by just having the anti-asik? I know that Lin uses the PNR a lot, but Linsanity and D'Antoni offensive sets is so much more than that. D'Antoni would have been a HOF coach if he just took playing defense more seriously. To this day Nash and Amare can't defend because they have not been groomed with proper fundamentals and the man himself, when questioned by LA media, admitted that he allocates only 30 min to defensive drills.
And also, since when was Tyson Chandler the defensive specialist known as an offensive force? Knicks fans on sites like Ultimate Knicks were bashing him for his offensive production; stone hands and no post game were common complaints. Then Linsanity happened, Fields and Novak - a shooting guard that can't shoot and an SF that can only shoot- got paid and all of a sudden Chandler is a monster on offense on clutchfans. SMH.
Do some research watch the game before you talk. That Lakers game, no body was hitting their shots: Bill Walker 3-11, Landry Fields 1-7, Steve Novak 2-8 in his 3s, Iman Shumpert 5-13. The other two player were Tyson Chandler, who was rendered useless offensively due to Lakers' two towers Bymum and Gasol, and Jared Jeffries, who was never an offensive player and should never be fed the ball. When almost all players are missing their shots, no matter how much a PG facilitating them and getting them open looks, his assist number won't be high. In the post game interview, D'Antoni said he was surprised by Lin's performance especially because Lin was playing in the context of team basketball. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RwLSe_6TrFQ at 5:40 mark). So your accusation of Lin 'Hero Ball, sticky fingers no freaking ball movement' was just pure BS. Without the offensive scorers Carmelo and Amare, and with all other role players not hitting their shots, and the PG was the only one hitting his shots that night, (Lin was 13-23, 2-4 in 3s in), you still complain Lin shot too much? I guess you simply didn't want the Knicks win games. It's OK to not like Lin and his play, but hate him for the pure purpose of hating will only make you a loser.
Steve Novak was a journeyman player, became Novacaine when Lin set him up for 3's and signed a big contract with the Knicks. Landry Fields was a journeyman player until Lin gave him a bunch of lob dunks and he signed a big contract with Toronto. The past 2 games with Lin as pg, James harden are shooting a high percentage with more points and fewer turnovers. Yes he made James Harden better.
landry fields was a journeyman? does not compute he did better his rookie year than his sophmore year playing with Lin
Landry Field, an SG that can't SHOOT got paid 20 millions and it sure is not because of his rookie year.
that literally has nothing to do with what I posted Landry Fields was a much better player in his rookie year than his sophomore year, and he is not a journey man.
True, he was much better in his rookie season but he would be out of the league by now if not for linsanity (and Colangelo's stupidity) because he is basically an SG that has got his shooting mechanics all wrong while being no great shake on defense.
Novak can't buy a basket now. Better scouted maybe? Fields messed up his shot, but he was a good glue guy for Lin. Linsanity doesn't happen without Tyson and Shumpert IMO. You could say Lin made them better, or you could say the pieces were already there for a good run under MDA's system, but they were missing a point guard capable of running the show. Any number of good point guards in the league could have stepped up and done it. In fact, Felton had a good run under MDA too. (This is no knock on Lin. I think he's better than Felton and what he did was incredible for a 3rd string PG.)
I never mentioned recreating Linsanity. Having chandler as the finisher will definitely helping the team, especially our back court in PnR situation.
Maybe or maybe not. many of those guys are scrubs and Chandler celebrated as a mythical offensive monster on CF is not that great on offense just like Shumpert. And no, not many point guard could have done what Lin has done, which was why it was billed as Linasinity in the first place. Lin greatest success was what I have commonly described as a PG's greatest skill when criticising Hardenball: trusting your team mates with the ball and your team mates trusting that you will give them the ball if they give their all. It leads to beautiful team ball, team mates buy into the system and for an 8 game stretch MSG witnessed greatness like it had never seen before.
