im lumping your "drop off in production due to role change/building around harden at the expense of linsanity" along with the other ridiculous excuses that Lin stans make whenever jeremy has a bad game. but you already knew this though. stop frontin.
His skills are too limited for him to be a starting PG, I think. Too inconsistent, he should be an energy guy off the bench
Sure, he needs to up his game and play more consistently and that's bad on him. There's no excuse, I for one don't think he deserves to play in the All-star game even if he's voted in. Massive disservice to his growth and the rest of the players who deserve to play. Should be based on merit, I get it. I'm merely stating the psychology of a 'leader'. For someone who is a 'coach/fan', you have terrible grasp on psychology.
I don't think he will get voted in but if he did I think he would be smart enough to say he has a nagging injury that he needs to rest and let someone else take his place.
Dude just ain't that great to begin with. He doesn't have shot so they pack any type of driving route.
He didn't shoot well tonight but they missed at least 3 calls where he was fouled while shooting. Over his last 5 games he is scoring 13.4 ppg / rebounds 4.8 pg / assist 5.2 pg / steals 3.2 pg / he shooting percentage isn't the greatest 40% from the field and 33% beyond the arc, 33% isn't great but it is equal to 50% shooting from the field. He has a long way to go and a lot to improve but even in the Boston loss he had better numbers than Rondo. Give the kid a chance and let our offense develop more and hopefully we will see a very good point guard that will continue to get better.
a lot of people say Lin can penetrate and create off pick n roll but when he holds the ball with no screen, he has no ability to do moves to go pass a defender, he would do a little jump step and go one direction but yet he's not quick enough to dribble past without any moves of any pg defenders in the league, he has no outside shot so people will gladly play off of him to ask him to create. he's great when he gets a pass and run pass defenders and is an above average finisher when he gets up before the defender does. like many posters here said, i think he should be coming off the bench
I think Jeremy can become a serviceable pg but I just don't see him becoming the star a lot of posters here believe he can be. I just see too many flaws in his game at the moment. Hopefully he finds a niche and survives in the NBA.
I like how Jeremy Lin moves the ball. I like how he hustles for rebounds and steals. He makes winning plays. He has the potential to be a great backcourt partner for James, but he has got to get his offense back. He needs to be a threat to drop 30 every single night. I want to see him play more like Westbrook, and less like Chris Duhon. I don't even mind the turnovers. the fact of the matter is that he NEEDS to find his game, he NEEDS to be aggressive and confident. Westbrook played an entire year with tons of 2-18 shooting nights, and that is how Lin needs to play, balls to the wall. STAY AGGRESSIVE...
Your wrong about his quickness, he has the quickest first step that the Rockets have ever measured. He can get to the basket so much faster than Lowry or Dragic did that it's just amazing. Also don't discount he D he has been playing great defense for the Rockets. Tony D can't stay out there playing point because the guards just go crazy scoring on him. His best D is when he is constantly pressuring the ball.
he is just not good. doesnt excel in anything to being paid 8mil p/y. cant shoot, cant drive, cant dribble, average passer, and good defender i guess. dude has rafer alston efficiency numbers
And yet he hasn't been nearly as effective as lowry/dragic. I don't have statistical evidence of "how fast" his first step is, but the whole process of from taking the first step to actually finishing a play should be considered when you are evaluating someone. I ain't one of those Lin hater or pro lowry/dragic poster, I am rooting for Lin to do well, the fact of the matter is he's just not that good.
You must not be watching the games. He can pass very well, better than the two very good point guards we had here last year. He can drive and finish very well, better than the two very good point guards we had here last year. He defends better than Dragic and I would say him and Kyle are close to even. He dribbling could get better. His shooting needs to get better and it is getting better. Don't forget it took Kyle Lowry 4 years before he even shot over 30% from beyond the arc. I really like Kye and Goran but they aren't here now and Lin has a great upside and this is just his first or second year depends how you want to look at it. I think one day you will look back and see how much he improved and be very happy we got him.
You are right! The end of Linsanity is a tragic for everyone:Lin, Coach, Fans and most of Lin's teammates.
his passing is just ok, and no hes not better than kyle or dragic, we are playing in a much faster pace, lin getting most minutes and have almost the same number of assists if you think hes good at driving or finishing then you are delusional
Well said, just be patient with him and give him time to get better. I know we all want to win but juts let the team develop together. We definitely need a legit PF.
Lin EFF +15.00 Lowry EFF +17.91 Dragic EFF +15.54 There isn't much difference there plus you also have to consider than Lin is coming off of a surgery, we had the biggest turnover of any team in the NBA, we have the least experience of any team in the NBA. So with all of that considered I would say Lin is doing well but without a doubt he needs to play better and I think he will. Last 10 games are listed below and you can see how close they are playing but Lin has the slight edge overall. Lin 12.8 ppg / 6.3 assist pg / 4.1 rebounds pg / 3 steals pg / shooting 42.5% Lowry 9.3 ppg / 6 assist pg / 3.4 rebounds pg / 1.2 steals pg / shooting 41.2% Dragic 13.4 ppg / 6.1 assist pg / 2.1 rebounds pg / 1 steals pg / shooting 44.5%
He can get to the basket better and finish better than Kyle or Goran without a doubt. He is more athletically gifted than those two in this area.
