hey Dei, I thought I saw your post somewhere in sticky thread just now. And unbelieveable for me is that you give Lin a credit when its due. Happy to see that, at least it shows you are not a blind hater and not embarrassed to give him a praise when he have a great game just like tonite, unlike other haters though cheers
Hmm... I doubt too many people (if any) would call the Lakers a bad team, and the Mavericks were the reigning champion last season. Small sample size? Absolutely. Winning because opponents were all bad teams? No.
To the people saying Linsanity teams were bad, what about the team Lin was on? Filled with mostly role players except for Tyson Chandler.
This popular argument, that Linsanity's schedule was weak, still doesn't address the fact that other teams and players also had stretches during which they played unimpressive teams. But where were their Linsanities? If Linsanity was merely a function of a soft schedule and Mike D'Antoni's system, then we should've been multiple episodes of Linsanities over the past 10 years. But Lin is the only one. What he did was unprecedented. Why? Because he has it in him to be a damn good player.
LOOOOLLLL, i disagree. It happens more than you'd think. Its merely people like you who make Lins version so popular. What about Dragics break out last season after Lowry went down with the virus? Only real ockets fans cared about that. He put up crazy numbers. With that said, i hope Lin continues to play like he did tonight.
Utah was also playoff team last year and that was 2nd game of Linsanity run. So actually 3 playoff team in run. I would say Minnesota was good win also. Minnesota was actually around 0.500 and in playoff contention until Rubio went down. That was also a 2nd game on back-to-back plus also an away game. I would say Kings, NJ, Wizards and Toronto where bad teams. The one loss was to New Orleans. To me Linsanity ended when Melo came back and Knicks posted 2-8 record. Lin shooting % drop significantly and Melo even admitting to not trying his fullest. MDA then had to resign.
Oh I agree that Lin's a good player. My post was in response to someone else's, who wrote, "last year's seven games winning streak were all against bad teams." Having said that, there's still no denying the sample size was small during Linsanity. FWIW, I didn't understand why folks who were bashing Lin earlier this season based on the first few games either (knee-jerk reaction perhaps). Lin's game is far from polished, but given his impeccable work ethics, I wouldn't be surprised if it'd take a few seasons before we finally know what his "norm" would be.
This is Dei being true to himself. The other times when he actually mentions something decent about Lin, he's just either back-tracking or trying to make himself not look too stupid.
When people talk about Linsanity, they're usually referring to the 11 games from 2/4 to 2/22 where the Knicks went 9-2 and Lin put up 22.7 points/36, 8.7 assists/36 and a 58.2 TS%. Going by those three marks, there really haven't been that many players that have averaged Linsanity-level stats over 11 or more games since the 1985-86 season. I think you'll recognize most of them: Sleepy Floyd, Tim Hardaway, Devin Harris, LeBron James, Kevin Johnson, Magic Johnson, Michael Jordan, Jeremy Lin, Stephon Marbury, Steve Nash, Tony Parker, Chris Paul, Mark Price, Isiah Thomas, Dwyane Wade, and Deron Williams.
Linsanity wasn't the numbers he put up. It's the way Lin plays the game. Before that, it was just Melo ISO ball which is very boring to watch. Then comes Lin who plays a team game, lobs to Chandler and Fields, dishes to Novak, PnR plays executed to perfection. Basketball was fun to watch again.
Yes it was. The highlight for me of the "Linsanity" era wasn't Jeremy Lin being a one man scoring army. It was how the whole of a second rate Knicks team being inspired to become a team, playing teamball, succeeding and achieving together. And you know what.... the fact that the Rockets have very balanced scoring and contributions from its players, shows that those traits of "Linsanity" that I so enjoyed are starting to take root here as well
Congrats to Lin. He played on Jarret Jack's level tonight. Good for him and good for the Rockets. I was never expecting Linsanity 2.0 so all I ask for is consistency and better shooting, especially given his salary.
There's no hate in my post. Jack is a solid player in this league. He doesn't make as much as Lin and has not always been a starter, but he gives you good production on both ends of the court. Just watch highlights of his play tonight or go and checkout his numbers. To be compared to him is not an insult. Stop being so sensitive.
