Well Morey uses advanced stats in addition to the good'ol eye tests to evaluate talent in which he weights the advanced stats more than the eye test. From reading your post, it sounds like you rely on solely on your eye test, so that's the reason there maybe a discrepancy between what you think Lin should be paid and what Morey thinks Lin should be paid. If you take the advanced stats into account a little more, you might just answer your own question.
From SI: Whether the team would still have gone after Lin if they'd first acquired Harden: "Yeah, I think so. Part of Lin is we had lost [Goran] Dragic and [Kyle] Lowry. We felt Lin was someone who had played at the All-Star level before, albeit for a short window. That gives you some odds that he could be that good. Even though now we have James, a guy we can absolutely build around, we need to keep adding bets to get that second really top-end player and, again, they're not really given away, so you got to hope[/B] one of your draft picks makes it or one of your signings. And Jeremy's played at a super-high level before, so there's a chance he could play at it again." http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/20...ts-jeremy-lin-james-harden-daryl-morey/1.html
I think Lin might be secretly hiding an injury that is inducing pain. He's really a shell of the preinjured Lin in NY for a reason other than set plays by the coach.
raymond fatty felton in the first half of the knicks game...no assists, 5 points on 2 of 7 shooting and no rebounds or steals.....dumb ass knicks
Les was going after Lin the whole time. This whole charade about the extra year w/Dragic was just an excuse.......
Its been quite awhile since a player has polarized Rockets fans this much. Mostly because there is a fanbase within the fanbase now that place a higher importance on Lin getting the recognition they think he deserves over the team actually winning games. I love Lin's game, and was very excited when they signed him. I think he has played well, but needs to improve quite a bit to take this team to the next level. Looking back at it now though, I can't say Im still thrilled about the move nearly as much. Not because anything Jeremy has done on or off the court, but the useless circus that is going to continue to follow him, and put him above the team in the end.
Its nice to know that you like Lin's game and root for him and the team. Why dislike him now because of his fans. You can just ignore the so called LOFs if you feel they are not in your liking. Again, everyone has their own opinion. be cool.
I can only speak for myself, but I don't think it's quite that. Or at least I hope its not. The vast majority of the coherent "Lin" posters do come from a rational perspective that doesn't value the player over the team. Moreover, some even choose to back up their assertions w/ solid reasoning/stats/insight. That said, there is a small minority that just spouts ridiculous non-sense. But you can't hold that against Lin or any of the rational posters. In other words, simply put, don't group me w/ the cuckoos.
Hah.. no that's not you that was geared towards, and yes Lin does have some fans that can back up their claims somewhat. It just really pisses me off that the Rockets just scored one of the elite players in the league, and the LOF'ers act like he was the worst thing that happened to this team because now Lin isn't getting the stardom he was supposed to get when he was brought in to be the focal point of the offense. Its just downright embarrassing to say the least, and a slap in the face to the fans who have been with this team for decades through the thick and thin waiting for things to finally turn around.
This. There is a lot broad generalizations going on, on this board. And in my opinion there is way to much oversensitivity when it comes to x fan vs y fan. It's hilarious when the Rockets win the game threads are under 70 pgs but if it is a loss or x player plays poorly the thread balloons over 100. A lot of people on both sides don't add anything constructive to the dialogue. But there seems to be a heightened focus on one party over another considering that both are just as bad. Honestly the season has just started & to assume that it will be like this forever is foolish. I would recommend that people give the players time to adjust to one another on the court & also give the fans on this board time to adjust to one another. Just a thought.
Good call Roxxy. As long as we can cool it with the whole "Lin is a better playmaker than Harden" statement. That one just made me vomit in my mouth a little
Even with all the endorsements and magazine covers, Jeremy Lin never seemed comfortable in the spotlight, I don't think it was just about the money with Houston, I believe he would really rather play for a smaller market.
LOL. My apologies for making you vomit. I will try not to express my thoughts on this subject anymore to you in particular, wouldn't want you to be sick.
