Thanks for the translation. I also like Lin's quote: "For me, winning is normal. So if I don't win, something's wrong." I also find it funny that to this day Lin is seen as an "underdog". I mean, I get how it makes a great story, but... underdog [ˈʌndəˌdɒg] n 1. the competitor least likely to win a fight or contest 2. a person in adversity or in a position of inferiority Lin has been the best player on every team he has played on, from highschool to college. Arguably even last year on the Knicks.(Carmelo and Amare were terrible during Linsanity) Lin has won on every level he has had the opportunity to play at. Lin is a 6'4, 220 pound, physically imposing PG who tested athletically comparable to Irving, Wall, and Rose speed and agility-wise. On any given night, he is likely to be bigger, and faster than his opponent. I understand it is a nice selling point to cast Lin as the outmatched asian kid fighting to survive the hardships of the NBA. And surely, he has endured much in reality. Like perception, typecasting, unfairness, and racism. But underdog? I think we are going to see a whole lot of underdogs next year, all waiting to take a bite out of Lin. He should do okay, though. Because he always has.
Just noticed that Bill Simmons (@sportsguy33) has Lin in his Twitter background. Can someone translate?
Yeah, this is a nice quote. Other favorite parts of mine included: Host: A lot of people said you only got that kind of publicity because you are Asian. If a black player played like you played during Linsanity, they wouldn't receive the same publicity. Lin: I agree that being an Asian makes this story more newsworthy, more fantasticating. But at the same time, being an Asian, you also have to prove it over a longer period of time to earn the same respect. (exactly what's happening lol) ...... Host: People said you just got lucky during Linsanity. Lin: People said luck, I say it's blessing or miracle. Host: Are you worried that you will run out of luck? Lin: I try not to think like that. Host: You're only 24. This story already has a stunning beginning. So what do you think your future will look like? Lin: I have been already a one game wonder, a one week wonder, a month wonder. I will try to make it a one year wonder. And my ultimate goal is to make it a whole career wonder. I don't know how high my potential it. But I will try to discover it. ...... Near the end, the host said that Lin's favorite motto is "suffering produces perservance, perservance produces character, character produces hope". (actually it's Bible verse, but they wouldn't say anything religion related on TV, haha)
Translation of the video is out. Really worth to read/watch it http://andreakate.tumblr.com/post/30370628629/cctv-interview-of-jeremy-lin
His little brother is a Division III PG. Perhaps Zeremy has a future in Chinese League ball if he manages to get a passport from Taiwan or China.
Being undrafted into the NBA isnt as easy at it seems. Players from the undrafted ranks are lucky to have even Chucky Atkins, Mike James types of careers. Less than a handful of undrafted players have ever made All Star teams. None have ever gotten elected to the Hall of Fame. Maybe in Houston we see guys pulled from the scrap heap become consistent contributors like Chuck Hayes. But thats far from the norm. Yeah its not the classic case JJ Barea type underdog, but I don't think its too unreasonable considering Lin an underdog.
I'm pretty sure Joe is a shooting guard in college. Hopefully he's not looking for a career in b-ball. It's been too stressful on the Lin family already...

As Lin said about his training (it's in this thread somewhere) that he was losing weight to put less strain on his knees, I wonder if he is still at 200 pds. I don't think league stats really update (or are very accurate to begin with), so it'll probably still say 200 even if it has changed.
