So future superstar who will make Rockets 3rd seed in the West won't be matched by a team who is not afraid of paying luxury tax and cares more about headlines than winning.

Can somebody explain me how is this possible?

The jokes on Houston. DM the teflon GM is going sell Lin as the superstar that they've been for years tried to acquire

"Knicks fan"? Excuse me? I was a Rockets fan before you were born, Cletus.
You need to look up the definition of the word "much." A more proper use of the word would be "Dragic is a much better player than Lin."

No, he's going to sell Dwight Howard as that. Linsanity is just a happy, unexpected bonus.

Exactly......Morey understands the game and is playing it like a boss. If Howard is in it for the money like rumored (shoe deal) then linsanity (national exposure) might entice him to stay. Regardless, morey deserves props for this one.

    Lin's contract is 8.5 Mil/yr
Dragic's is 7.5 Mil/yr and 1Mil bonus is he makes the All Stars for that year

Length of years doesn't make it cap friendly as claimed as the cap is considered annually.

You obviously aren't aware of the situation. The player option was the deal-breaker for Dragic.

I don't think people really understand how much it will cost the Knicks to keep Lin. This isn't the old dollar for dollar luxury tax from the old CBA. Teams over the tax line of $70MM will have to pay an increased amount for every $5MM they go above the luxury line. The Knicks will likely already be over that line in 2014-2015 without Lin's contract added in. When you add in the extra $15MM for Lin it results in the Knicks having to pay $2.50 for every dollar they are over the limit (for the purposes of this I will assume that the Knicks are less than $5MM above the line without Lin.) Lin's extra $15MM will result in them paying $37.5MM in luxury tax for Lin alone. Throw in that they also have to pay Lin his salary and it will cost the Knicks $52.5MM to keep Lin in year 3. That's a ton of money for an unproven player even if you are Dolan.

Here's what I think about Lin vs Dragic (basketball wise):

Dragic has better handles. Has better moves to score. Has a more of a never say die attitude, in that if his team is down, he will keep fighting. Has obviously more speed than Lin.

Lin is a better shooter. Is a better leader. Looks for his teammates slightly more. Plays at a good pace.

Both are big game players. They feed on the spotlight. They don't cower when the pressure is on.

The Rockets didn't lose here. Dragic is slightly better but only by a few points. Lin can be a winner, our winner.

I just hope the Knicks or the media isn't playing us, this is all getting me excited.

No one outside of the Rockets and Dragic's people know. As the Rockets ceiling for $/yr when they negotiated with Dragic hasn't been leaked.

Agree to some extent, but a 15mil expiring is more than tradable.

I didnt say its cap friendly at all, I was just throwing it out there as the 3rd year isnt that bad for the rockets.

I don't like to use stats, because they often lie, but:

    .343 % Lin’s 3 point % as a starter
    .379 % Goran’s 3 point % as a starter
    Dragic wins

    .490 % goran fg % as a starter
    .445 % lin fg% as a starter
    Dragic wins

    4.7 turnovers lin‘s turnovers as a starter
    3.2 turnovers goran’s turnovers as a starter

    8.4 assists Dragic’s assists as a starter
    7.7 assists Lin’s assists as a starter

    1.64 ast/to lin’s assist to turnover ratio 7.7 assists / 4.7 turnovers as a starter
    2.62 ast /to dragic’s assists to turnover ratio 8.4 assists / 3.2 turnovers as a starter

How is Lin better shooter? He is streaky at best. He never played PG until he got in the NBA and yet he is better leader and looks for teammates more? What has he won? How many playoff games did he even play in?

Lin had more of a feeling out his skills as a starter last season. He was trying to maximize what he can do, resulting in more inefficient numbers. It's really no surprise. When you watch them both, it's obvious Lin has better shooting mechanics. Like I said, Dragic is better but by a little. Rockets don't lose here. We have a good player if we get Lin, and it's not just about the marketing.
