His point was that Larry Coon is probably the foremost authority online about CBA issues. He is worth listening to.

So is BimaThug tho, so it will be interesting to find out why their opinions differ.

This isn't about opinion, this is something which can be resolved by citing simple facts.

Anybody can do the simple math to see that Howard + Asik + Lin + Davis + Richardson comes to less than $50M, and the salary cap is just over $58M. It's not rocket science.

The facts are what prove Larry wrong, not Bima.

I would agree that Larry Coon is the #1 authority on the CBA but I think it's safe to say that Bima is more up to date on the Rockets salary cap situation. I'll go with Bima and no disrespect to Coon.

I would much rather re-sign C. Lee than sign Asik if we get Dwight. Hopefully Morey constructs a match-friendly contract for Asik.

Meija has actually been saying for a week Dwight is going to Houston.

He even stuck to that after these reports of NY not matching Lin came out.

But, I hear you.... it's like these guys will spout off something without even playing with the numbers.

We have Scola, Dalembert, Lowry, Dragic... all gone. In the trade, it will be "headlined" by Martin's $12.4M going out. That's about $35M right there alone... without anyone else going to Orlando.

Dwight and J-Rich's contract are about $25.3M. Add Lin and Asik's cap amounts and it's around $41M.

You don't think we have another $6M to send to Orlando? We have that in non-guaranteed contracts ALONE. So we could likely take on Duhon as well (not that Morey will).

This likely does not affect getting Dwight at all - 'cause Morey wasn't going to take on anything more than Dwight, J-Rich and Duhon (possibly Big Baby instead) to begin with.

Exactly. We have a guy that is our team's resident expert vs. a guy who covers the entire NBA. I'm going to trust the guy who has spreadsheets about our team updated every day over anybody else.

And I'm with ya on that, just wanted to make sure some of the noobs questioning the trustworthiness of Coon were informed of who he is.

Bima has never steered me wrong before, I don't expect it to happen this time either.

Look, I don't have to tell you, I can SHOW you.

Asik + Lin = approximately $17M cap hit
Imagine Turk + Reddick are standing in for Asik + Lin (they come to approximately $17M cap hit)

You can see, the grand total is just shy of $50M. That leaves the Rockets still almost $9M under the salary cap to pay for all their rookie contracts. (Keeping in mind that at least 1-2 of them will almost certainly be heading to the Magic.)

Actually Turk + Reddick are approximately $18M, which just aids my point even more.

Also told Rockets, even if they unexpectedly land Lin AND Omer Asik, still think they've got Dwight trade offers (yes, plural) to please ORL

If NYK matches it will be crushing after hearing tonight of the Felton trade plus all the reports that they WON'T match.
