The Chicago GM will make sure he's asleep by then, and then in the morning the FO will claim he is in a coma and thus cannot recieve the offer sheet directly.

Stupid idea. We got a coach that's gonna run pick and roll until it's running out everybody's ears....and the thing is...he's got defensive accountability whereas D'Antoni does not. Two things Lin needs to improve to move to the next level....turnovers and defense. McHale will see to it that he does. D'Antoni will just keep rocking the offense. I'd rather have McHale coaching him at this juncture.

All true. Howard will get the extra $$ from China, increasing the chance he stays. Also both Dragic and KLow are better than Lin... They all practiced together last season, even Lin knows it.

Hope this AB signing confirms Lin to Houston, as it's looking like it really is Lin or bust at this point...

The Felton sign-and-trade deal AS ORIGINALLY REPORTED was not feasible for the Knicks, especially once the Rockets delivered the Lin offer sheet, since Lin's cap hold basically went up from a little over $1M to $5M.

However, it looks like Felton ended up taking a $2-3M pay cut over the life of his contract from the contract figures originally reported.

The first three years of Felton's originally reported deal (~$13M total) were only possible in a S&T for Jeffries/Gadzuric if the Knicks were under the $74M luxury tax "apron" figure.

The 3-year, ~$10.5M contract now being reported DOES work for the Knicks in such a S&T deal, regardless of their team salary.

Hope that explains things a little better.

I say he actually is more of a scoring guard than point guard

Bima, does this change your suspicion that the Knicks might still match Lin?

No, not really. The Knicks could use all three of Lin, Kidd and Felton. As Howard Beck points out, Kidd is old and Lin is inexperienced. For $3.5M per season, Felton is a great insurance policy on an affordable (and movable) contract.

The Brooks signing just gives Dolan the opportunity to plunge the knife into Houston's heart and give it a good twist (via both delays and option to match Lin)...if he's a ego-driven enough to lash out and insist on matching. He might have to pay the price of financial foolishness (if it ends up being that for the Knicks) but he could get a good measure of revenge against the perceived slights he and his team have received from the Rockets organization. The timing on his moves are likely designed to hurt Houston as much as possible. We shall see.

Probably safe to assume that the Knicks changing Felton's deal to give him less money doesnt help us.

Felton is insurance for Kidd, not necessarily a replacement for Lin. A four year deal is some expensive insurance, though.

The radio personalities are trashing Lin but the MAJORITY of fans in NY LOVE Lin. I just moved to Colorado from Brooklyn.

Lin's poor defense is a myth. I've watched every single game Lin played in and attended a couple at MSG. He's not terrible the way SAS portrays him out to be, he's at worst average and working on it. He commented at the end of the season that people use that to criticize him but he knows to keep improving on it.

From what I've heard Dolan isn't as mad at the Rockets as he is at Lin for making the Rockets up the money in the 3r year. Morey didn't offer to do that. Lin requested that in order to sign it.
