They'll have to find someone who is way under the LuxTax line. Many teams will be reluctant to trade for Lin the same reason the Knicks are reluctant to match the contract.

But if the signing team gets him for a pro rated amount for the 3 years wouldnt any other team? Or does any team that trades for him be obligated to the same contract structure as the knicks?

    this is very confusing lol

Lets watch the MSG stock as all this drama unfolds.

hopefully it won't drop too much so Dolan won't be so motivated to match. Or maybe dolan just doesn't give a **** about money.

Teams will be required to pay him the same structure as the team that is trading him. If it's the Knicks it's the poison pill structure. If it's us it's the prorated structure.

Chris Mannix on the DP Show on Lin/Howard:
Where do we stand with Lin?

Knicks contemplating. I'm told they haven't made any conclusive decisions but leaning towards not matching but want to take the full 3 days. The fact this deal changed in that 3rd year, that really has given the Knicks pause. All I heard is they'll match anything but they're not sold on having to pay him that much money. You might be paying a backup PG 15 million in year 3.

    Carmelo said contract is ridiculous.

Carmelo is lending to what everyone has said. Paying him that much for so little work is ridiculous. Carmelo is 100% right. A 25 game sample size and offering him 15 mil in the last year, 25 million overall. This deal spikes from 5 mil to 15 mil and there are no other word to use than ridiculous.

Did he use the same word on Landry Fields offer?

    No.

Looking at it overall, is he worth 8 mil a year?

Not a question you can answer. We don't know. He only played 25 games at this level in the D'Antoni offense. Woodson doesn't place same responsibility on the PG.

Who would you rather have? Lin or Dragic?

Right now, Dragic. He's proven enough over the last 4-5 years. Lin, even though he has more potential, the safer bet is Goran.

Latest on Dwight? Lin to Houston factor in?

It does. It would eat up the Rockets salary cap space and they would have less flexibility to absorb bad contracts. Houston has been banking on this, we can offer some assets and absorb some bad contracts. If that's the case, Houston loses some ability to take on bad contracts. Dwight to Houston has been exaggerated. Nothing close. All these reports about taking on Davis, Richardson, and every crappy contract have been overstated. 1 or 2, not all of them at once. Dwight is member of the Magic and come training camp, he'll be with the Magic.

Stephen A. on SC on Lin/Dwight:
I've been told they're done, they won't match this offer. You can't say anything is 100% with James Dolan. The people that make the decisions for the NYK, the players, everyone recognizes that NY was not intending to match this offer. If Dolan changes everyone mind, then he does but I was told he isn't coming back. What happens tomorrow night at 11:59, we'll see. ... Felton unlike Lin, he'll get others involved and not look for his own shot.

Reality is Dwight messed this all up by opting in. Magic are wondering to make a move now or wait a few week or for a better offer, etc. They know they can't start the season with him. Dwight has been taking the blame and that's because of his indecision. He can't go to Brooklyn any more. Now you have to look at the other teams. His agent thinks LA is a good situation. Biggest impediment is if Bynum won't commit somewhere else long term, that is another roadblock in Dwight getting to LA.

Jarrod Rudolph: Houston willing to give up everything. Nothing in Houston that Dwight wants or needs. Nothing will convince him to stay.

I usually don't come out and criticize other people's opinions, but if you're talking about Courtney Fortson, you completely destroyed your credibility of knowing anything worthwhile. Just a suggestion, you may want to spend just a little bit of time researching your thoughts prior to just making comments and maybe you'll be taken a bit more seriously.

I'm not even sure you've seen Courtney Fortson play this summer, but the dude/chick looks like a chicken running around with its head cut off in SUMMER LEAGUE play. I highly doubt Courtney Fortson would even cut in the WNBA...

Ian O'Connor of ESPNNewYork.com called Lin "a promising 23-year-old asset" (on ESPN). Hmmm...."a promising asset." Funny new ways to use the words. ;)
