You do realize you wrote earlier "If Lin had as much control of the ball as Harden and played the minutes he did his TO per game would at least be at the level of Hardens." Then you write what you wrote above. I hope you can see the double standard that your going by.

What double standard? If Lin played more minutes and had the ball more often he would have more TOs and more assists then he currently gets. What are you not following?

Reaching buddy. The only thing I was implying is Lin just like harden has a bit of a turnover problem. So when people say "why do you focus on Lins turnovers he averages less turnover/game than others" I point out very logical reasons why even though his per game TO #s are lower there are certain reasons for that. Minutes and number of possessions play a factor.

And to your comparison of the other 3 PGs they also have decently higher AST% to go with there large TOV%.

The double standard is that you think it's ok to speculate on how many TO's Lin will have on a team where he controlled the ball more often. Then when someone brings up the increased assists your response basically is it doesn't matter because it's not gonna happen. By your logic, it doesn't really matter about the TO's since it's not gonna happen.

That makes no sense. I agreed that if he got more minutes and more ball control his assists and turnovers would go up. The way this team is constructed I don't believe he will be seeing much more minutes or more control of the ball. That doesn't change the fact that the amount he turns it over is a bit troubling, but on the flip side his assists number are actually pretty good givin his minutes and possessions.

2.9 TOs per game is troubling per 32 minutes?

I agree. This is very objective. I am a huge lin fan but I don't see him as a flawless player.

Seriously, I can't stand blatant haters and blatant fanatics

As for lin's TOs, 2.9 isn't exactly horrible. He was way worse during his Linsanity run and have improved. I can see that he'll have better ball handling and reduce his TOs even more

I'm not reaching buddy. If you notice there is a ? at the end. I'm asking since that's how it reads to me, but I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt by making it a question. When you write "it has some relevance and Lins isn't very good" it's misleading when that's all you write and don't put it into context of comparing to other players.

And let me restate my main point again. TOV% is basically a meaningless stat.

Yes. Look at it this way. Lin and Durant have the same number of TOs per 48 minutes at 4.3 which is tied for 11th most in the league for qualified players. Which of these 2 players has the ball more and has more defensive focus on them? Durant right? So wouldn't it be fair to say that Durant has less of a turnover problem than Lin?

This is all I'm saying when people point to Hardens TOs when someone talks about Lins turnovers. Per 48 they are very close, but when you factor in number of possessions and amount of defensive focus they at the very least equally bad.

2.9 turnovers per game for Lin does not tell the whole story, bottom line.

Lin's TO# will drop next season if he's still with us, simply because Howard will catch everything that throws at him. Asik is a great defender, but his hands is his worst enemy to become relevant in offense.

I predict Lin TO next season at 2.5, with AST at 7.2. Pts probably drop slightly because he will have less shot attempts, but I think he will be more efficient, still score around 13 pt/game.

Rondo average 3.9 turn overs last season and steve nash 2.5. Jrue Holiday 3.7 and i keep going..The fact is if your a PG and handle the ball you will get turn overs..of course JLin still have to improve and im sure he will people expect to much from him..

Let me see if I can clarify my thoughts to you. My issue is your dismissive manner in which you responded to the other poster when you wrote "That's not gonna happen in Houston with the personnel we have."

The point is that it's not about whether it's gonna happen or not. Anyone could have responded to your comments about Lin's increased to's with extra time with: "That's not gonna happen in Houston with the personnel we have." and it would have added nothing to the conversation just as it didn't when you wrote it. The difference being that you said it to a guy using the same premise that you did.

And btw, I do think Lin needs to lower his assist/turnover rate.

I feel like we're arguing for no reason here and i wasnt being dismissive. The difference in what your saying is I never said his assists numbers were bad given his role and minutes in our offense, they are actually quite good. I agreed with the dude that he could have more assists given more minutes and control, but I also believe that wont happen.

On the TOs, it's true he won't reach a per game number as high as Hardens for the same reason he wont have a high per game assist number, again because of his role and minutes . All I was saying is that given his minutes and role his TOs are a bit high. Some of his defenders continue to say "but he only averages 2.9 per game that's less than Harden etc, etc, so he can't be bad" when just giving a per game number doesn't tell the whole story. All I'm trying to say.

Conversely, he averaged more assists than Harden. So while the stats can prove he is more turnover prone, they could also be used to indicate that he is a better at getting his teammates involved.

Won't argue with you there and I have said as much before. Jeremy is better at making plays for others, but at the same time Harden is too dangerous as a scorer with the ball in his hands to limit his time with the ball. Add the fact that Harden is at worst average at making plays for others it's hard to give Jeremy the control that most of the marquee PGs get on other teams.

I have used it but sometimes don't feel like. I'm sorry you're the only one who has a problem with it. Hey, you don't have to show up in Lin threads. But wait, that's where your tragic life belongs. Well, if that's the case, I'm sorry.
