Really? You're comparing that era when it was something historic to present day people dick riding athletes because they're the same race.
The Utah Jazz are no pushover. Plus, he has been up against Deron Williams, Devin Harris, and John Wall in those games. Not exactly easy matchups. I am not saying he'll do this all season, but you have to admit the last three games are impressive.
Being the first Asian American NBA player since 1947 is pretty historic, no? And BTW, people root for Lin non-ethnic reasons. Spike Lee and Bill Simmons are both pretty excited about the guy. Also, you don't see a whole lot of Yi Jianlian, Wang Zhizhi and Yuta Tabuse fans. You kind of have to be good to have fans of any ethnicity.
That's actually when I noticed it. Its why I can't watch boxing with my family. My dad and his family become #1 fans of anyone remotely Hispanic/Latino.
Umm..it is historic...he's the first Asian American player in the NBA since like the mid 1900s...no, just cause he's Asian doesn't mean that he's similar to Yao Ming, Yi Jianlian, and the other Chinese players the NBA has seen.
Deron Williams made all nba teams, Wall was all rookie 1st team and the overall #1 draft pick the year Lin wasn't drafted, Devin Harris is one of the better pgs in the NBA
Just got to give it a rest. From what I can tell, Asian-Americans don't have many role models in sports or entertainment, etc. so it's going to happen.
He reminds me a lot of Brandon Roy without a jumper, the way he slithers around the defense without giving up his dribble. He has a quick step, is very crafty, sees the floor well, and can finish with both hands just like Roy.
Jeremy Lin crosses over John Wall, goes in for uncontested dunk. <iframe width="640" height="480" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/LiwSUxszuN0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
I agree with you man. I always watch NBA games and try to catch as many Rockets games as possible. Now on my facebook, there are people suddenly posting: 'Keep it up Jeremy Lin Taiwanese Pride!' I'm just thinking firstly, he's pretty much an American and secondly you're suddenly a fan of basketall because someone with the same background as you made it to the NBA? Taiwan are pretty much claiming him as their own now which doesn't make any sense.
He was also pretty productive in limited/mop-up minutes, too. The per-minute stats were good (probably why the Rockets front office decided to pick him up).
When that guy is a trail blazer, you can't really fault some people for wanting the guy to do well; It's a pride thing.

Fair enough. It just bugs me when people are fans of other people because of that particular factor. I don't wanna have this move to D&D territory, so I'll just move along.
Lin is making Knicks look like the old Suns. Funny, their offense was so stagnate with Melo in there.
