The thing is Parsons at best is a good starting SF most likely. That's another thing about known players...we know his ceiling. Lamb's is higher. You rather take a known quality starter in the NBA over a guy who could become a all-star? I think most teams would take the latter. The Dwight thing is different because some people feel he will leave and therefore we would have lost one of our more recently promising players.
Why is it so important for you to force others to think like you? Post after post after post after post after post, yeah we get it, you don't like to judge yet. Guess what, I don't either, but you don't see me running around being all condescending towards everyone while beating them over the head with my opinion
Could. Could also suck. Odds are against him. Don't know how many times I have to repeat that. Do you know how many players enter the NBA every year? Or how about how many prospects drool over yet fail to meet their expectations? Do you think those disappointed fans would pick that prospect every time now that they've learned their lesson? Over a proven player, who's really not all that old. He's the same age as Jeremy Lin, so if you say Chandler has no room to improve, then why does Jeremy have room to improve?
I'm sorry, I feel like Homer Simpson with the crayon removed from his brain here, not seeing the logic in everyone's thinking and it aggravates me. You're right, I shouldn't try to force others. Just trying to make them see at least a glimpse of my point.
Anthony Davis could also suck. Look if you want to build a team based on known talent then fine. But most teams when trying to rebuild take potential over quality. Of course looking back no one would take Kwame Brown...but no one can do that so the best teams do is take guys they feel will grow into what they need. I don't think Lin has that much room to improve either, which is why the Knicks may be letting him go, but he's a starting PG for sure I feel. There is always exceptions of course, maybe Parsons is one of those...but that is less likely than a guy taken 12th. Point is, at this point in time most feel Lamb has a higher ceiling than Parsons.
Ideally you would think that. But there are two many unknown factor's (team scouting, draft depth, some teams reach, etc.) for that to hold true. Ex. IN 2009, Kahn clearly reached for Jonny Flynn, thus increasing the chances of teams below his draft slot to draft a star player. Because a player that should had gone several slots below was drafted much higher.
We all would love to keep em' both, but what if one of them is required to get Dwight? Would you trade Parsons or Lamb? I'm going with Parsons being traded.
Both... Lin Lamb Parsons Motiejunas Howard That's a playoff team now... With potential to be a contender
Not to hijack the thread. But Is Orlando really in position to be making request? Without any competitive bidders, Orlando is lucky were even offering them any young talent at all? Specially considering the combination of picks were giving them and contract were taking off their hands.
Well Lamb long term, I think parsons has peaked close to peaking... He can be a Mike Miller, or a Shane Battier, or a clone of them. Lamb Could could be a stud, he rinds me of a skinny small Rudy Gay (I remember RG looked big wearing the rockets hat) Lamb also could end up as a collision type who ball stops, and needs to be the facilitator when he's never going to get that good, and if he does que the "Lamb Mcgrady Jam" (he can fly) I hope we keep him, but no one is untraceable..if I keep one I gamble on Lamb, and expect Parsons to be a Bruce Bowen; all while gambling on Lamb to be better than Monte Ellis....
But what if Orlando forced us to choose between Lamb or Parsons for Dwight. Who would you choose to be traded?
Yep. One reach by a team can drop players who should have been taken higher. This year one could argue that Waiters was a reach. Waiters being taken allowed Barnes to Drop...allowed Drummond to Drop as well. Teams like the Hornets and Blazers were set on their guys, Rivers was taken higher than initially thought and Blazers were set on their PG. Team positional needs and reaches allow for superstar players to fall. Also sometimes a team just likes a player, likes his attitude, and just like the guy (I think this is what happened with Waiters) You especially see this in the NFL, that's how a guy like Aaron Rodgers falls like late 20s was it?
I know they really aren't in that position of making requests. I was just curious to see what would the fans choose if this ultimatum occurred.
Lamb had an ankle injury which caused him to not do workouts. This caused his stock to drop somewhat with many scouts. Mainly took the spotlight off of him long enough for him to drop from top 5 prospect to our 12th pick. Yeah we got lucky for once.
