Not all that different. Parsons can play shooting guard and he did in Friday's summer league game against the Raptors.
If we get to keep T-Jo, I think he'll be a similar player to Parsons. They both move well, have a high BBIQ and are blue collar workers. Terrence isn't as quick and likely can't cover 2's, but has more scoring. And is strong enough to guard the 4, maybe even the 5 when we go small.
Parson has developed into a terrific two-way player (he has even improved his ft shooting which was attrocious in the beginning of last season). I am not comparing Lamb to Lebron James, but Lamb's talent is undeniable, in the same way Lebron's. Lamb is a total two-way player and he works to improve his craft as the years go by, this dude will become a star in this league. Given the above, I would keep Lamb.
Obviously these are projections and based solely on potential, but Jeremy Lamb I would want to hold onto for as long as possible. Great, ideal length for a SG, a couple years in a Pro Strength and Conditioning program will improve his speed on defense, as well as his improving post-game. Has great natural feel for the position, great shooting motion, range out to 24 feet. Solid free-throw shooter. I think his upside is greater than Parsons, even though he was a pleasant surprise and far outperformed his 2nd round status. Tough call, but upside for Lamb I think is why we throw in Parsons on a DH12 deal far before we let Lamb go.
If your answer to this question now is different from your answer to this question the day after draft night you're a dumbass
I think Terrence Jones has far more upside than Parsons. He is 6'10", 255 pounds already at 20 years old. He can handle the ball and play some point forward, has good but not great shooting range. Can knock down the occasional 3, and also has the quickness, coupled with his size advantage that would allow him to cover the 3, 4, or even 5 if we go with a smaller, up-tempo line-up. Parsons is a great 2nd round find and will net us more in a trade than we gave up to draft him. But his potential is not as great as Terrence Jones'. I think this draft was exceptional by the Rockets, and far exceeds the pitiful haul we pulled in the last times we had 3 1st rounders--- 1998- Michael Dickerson(Loved him but cant make up for the other 2 picks) Bryce Drew Mirsad Turkcan 2001- Richard Jefferson Jason Collins Brandon Armstrong
Parsons easy. That contract is the definition of an undervalued player. And he still has plenty of room for growth.
Neither Parsons, Lamb nor D-Wolf should be on the table for this trade. Orlando is not in a position to demand anyone, especially since we are able to give them two pretty good future first-rounders. I would be sad to see Jones go, and since White has not shown anything so far, I have not grown attached to him yet.
How is that attacking? Chill. I just think it's preposterous to pick a player who hasn't proven anything over someone who has.
Was James Anderson a top 5 prospect, Was James Anderson a highly recruited player in high-school? Thing is what James Anderson did was a surprise, what Lamb has done so far is expected.
If the FO believes that TJones has potential to be a special player, then moving Parsons in a trade for Dwight is fine by me. Morey has proven he can find gems out of nowhere. I'm sure he can do it again with another player. Martin, Parsons, Raptor pick, White, fillers for Dwight and Hedo. Lin Lamb Hedo/Jones/Morris Ppat/Dmo/ Howard/Leuer
