and it seemed like the questions were harder than usual. Normally I know at least half of em, but maybe i was just in awe watching this guy.
I was thinking the same thing. Usually I know about half of the questions but I was blank on a lot of questions today. That guy just ran the board like a machine.
Sounds like they need to make the questions easier. That way everyone has a chance. More like Who wants to be...
I'm watching Jeopardy right now, and this guy is just tearing it up. He just swept two categories and the other contestants have $0 and -$1,200. Amazing.
A good buddy of mine won College Jeopardy last year. He kicked ass. A lot of it has to do with how good you are with the clicker, which comes down to using video gaming ability.
No you are not. Out of site from the camera is a light which goes on the second Alex finishes reading the answer. You cannot push the clicker till that light goes on.
Actually no. Because you notice that some people will start clicking the clicker immediately but the don't "get in" until a certain time after the question gets read. Also they always read the entire question, but the contestants are never already buzzed in when the camera shifts back to them. The camera shifts back at the contestants and then someone buzzes in, so there must be a delay. I think I read somewhere that there is a light that tells the contestants exactly when they can buzz in, and it's the people that can time it who end up doing the best on the show, because more often than not a couple contestants will know the answer but the better clicker will get it.
Really? I've seen people click too early before Alex finishes the question. Alex just stops and makes the person answer without finishing the question. Of course, they usually get it wrong and Alex will say something like "oh, you should have waited for the entire question". I think they actually phrase some questions in a way that the person will think they know before the end of it. Then the last part of the question will be different. example Hakeem was the center for the team that... click...Rockets? Oh, I'm sorry. Hakeem was the center for the team that beat this team in the 95 Finals. Something like that.
What kim, Behad, and m_cable said -- no buzzing until the light comes on, which some staffer turns on after Alex finishes the question. Otherwise, your buzzer will be turned off for a few seconds -- that's what's happening when you see someone repeatedly pushing their buzzer with nothing hapening (generally while looking really frustrated). At least on earlier seasons, you could see the reflection of the light near the bottom of the contestants' podiums (or "podia", if you're feeling pretentious). I guess Ken's passed my friend Mark, who "only" won $302,599.
