I propose a one time solution. Let's have a CC.net get together. I live in austin, but would gladly do it this year. I know that ya'll pulled one together last year. Has anyone come up with a reasonable game this year? ------------------ "Stranger things have happened, but none stranger than this" - Commentator after a parachutist landed in the ring of a Holyfield fight
I agree. I'd like to have the "Mutha of All Get-Togethers" here in Houston. If we could get a bunch here and a bunch in Austin (maybe you guys could rent a van and drive down together or just caravan), we could get group discount rates for a game. We could eat first, go to the game and try to get something really cool together for afterward. Maybe, if we Houstonians were gracious enough, we could put up all the people for the night so hotel rooms wouldn't be necessary. ------------------ Me fail English? That's unpossible.
Houston/Austin Rocketball 2001: CC.net Storms the Summit Let's do it! I'm usually part of the problem, but on Tuesday I was part of the solution. I haven't been to a game in a long time and... damn, I almost forgot how much more fun it is to watch live! It was only the Wizards, the Rocks looked out of synch through the first 1 1/2 quarters and I was up in the nosebleeds but all of that didn't stop me from yelling my head off through the whole game. I've got to do it again. I think when the crowd finally starting chanting defense for real in the 2nd quarter is when the team finally started playing defense for real. That's when they went on that run and turned the game around. It felt great to be a part of that! Imagine if there's a whole gang of rabid fans like us there together raising hell... we CAN make a difference with the noise we make. I'm pretty sure I made a difference all by myself (in my section at least) simply by being relentless and loud. I think a lot of fans just don't want to be the only one yelling, they wait for someone else to get it going and then follow suit. Jeff, any chance we could get some kind of promotional rate? This would be an opportunity for the organization to get some butts in seats - fans who can boost the energy level in the building. ------------------
I dont have any extra rooms, but my couch and extra floor space are open for any CC.neter that needs it after the game.. Let's Do It! Make some big-ass signs that have CC.NET on them (shameless publicity) ------------------ "Excuse me while I whip this out!" Cleavon Little in Blazing Saddles
I've said it before and I'll say it again. I'm always game to fly home to see the Rockets... Unfortunately, chances of me making any game that's not on the weekend are pretty slim... Too much work and school to worry about missing... A Friday/Saturday game would be better for me... and probably for the Austin crowd, too... ------------------ "There are three kinds of lies: Lies, Damned Lies, and STATISTICS..." - Mark Twain -
