It figures ... Isiah Thomas is back with NY too. JJ was a good teammate while he was here, an overall good guy.
I don't really see why he didn't get minutes here. I guess they chose developing young guys over playing someone who can help you now.
This SURELY WON'T make up for any of the players the Knicks lost in the Carmelo trade. Jeffries sure aint no Gallinari or Wilson Chandler, but this is the kind of low-cost move that can help them regain some kind of depth. He can even play a little bit at center for the Knicks.
I've been feeling sorry for Jeffries this season, except when he was bricking layups in the little time he saw the court. Never could quite understand why he didn't get more minutes when we needed defense, and didn't need him on offense particularly. One of those mysteries this year. Maybe it was a simple as giving his minutes to the young guys. People have complained about Coach Adelman not playing the young cats more, but they would have played even less had Jeffries, who can play 3 positions, played more often than he did.
He was just the Rudy Ruettiger of the Rockets. If he lasted the whole year, we would have started him the last game or two, instead we are letting him shine elsewhere.

In February 2010, many CFs are so excited for Morey's sucessfully screwing NY, throwing them our former ALL STAR you know who. In 2010, NY loss Jeffries, 1st round pick, another 1st round pick swap, pay $21M salary for ther former ALL STAR. In 2011, NY has A'mare, Melo, Billups, and get back Jeffries. Who's the winner? Who's the loser? obviuous....
The swap become null and void and useless since NYK is a playoff team and we will be lottery bound. So I guess we got the one 1st round pick next year which will likely be low 1st round
I said it earlier today that my thoughts were he'd go back to the Knicks. Knicks need interior help and Dantoni loves him. I think JJ will help the knicks bigtime.
Get this done and take a flyer on Sean Williams for the remainder of this season. If Williams shows something, offer him a league minimum deal for 2 years and see if he bites. At worst, he could possibly be flipped in a deal for somebody else.
