I hate to disagree but the results say otherwise. They need more than the two.

... much less be expected to play 30 lousy minutes?

Does anybody know his attendance record at these workouts?

Do these scouts and GMs make player selections based on who the freaking coach of the team is or what? Guys need to fit a system. Some guys are good enough no matter what system is in place but that list is short.

Considering JVG hasn't been at some of the workouts including Redick one of the most important ones. Seems like CD and Lindsey and maybe Moneyball have the power to make draft decisons, not JVG.

I was under the impression that there was a controversy here about whether or not JVG publicly ripped Head & Hayes. So far, if it appears that no real evidence of such a thing happening can be produced although certain members have stated that they too recall hearing this on the radio. Efforts to locate a ClutchBBS thread on this topic have so far remained elusive. As for:

#2 - JVG has admitted that he was wrong about not wanting those 2 so the question is moot.

#3 - Like he said today on 610, he does not make these decisions himself but instead offers his input to Lindsay & CD. He also said that it was this way for him in New York as well. I recall him saying something similar when he was hired.

#4 - He admires them for their determination, grit and drive to succeed. They are still undersized & underskilled but he now believes them to be NBA level players.

I think too many folks are trying to read too much into this. JVG was calm, reasonable, thoughtful and to the point this morning so I fail to see why anyone would have to speculate on the meaning behind what he said (or didn't say).

The reason we are counting on and arguing about guys like Luther Head and Chuck Hayes is because since the 2000 draft we have picked luminaries like
the late Jason Collier, Dan Langhi. Eddie Griffin, Bostjan Nachbar, Tito Maddox, Malick Badiane, and V-Span. I don't necessarily mean to knock the last two because they've never yet worn a Rocket uniform and may never.

On the other hand with the above slots we could easily have added Jamaal Magliore, Eduardo Najera, Richard Jefferson, Gerald Wallace, Samuel Dalembart, Tayshaun Prince, Flip Murray, Kyle Korver, et al. I'm not even sure who went undrafted between 2000 and 2005.

Of course, we wouldn't have had the prescience to hit on all of those but just give me three of the eight (Richard Jefferson, Tayshaun Prince and Jamaal Magliore) and the Rockets are probably advancing deeper into the playoffs while Head and Hayes are not even being argued about.

I can see why we have a problem with depth...
