Yeah and Yao takes up so much space that T-Mac can't drive. Yao can't play effectively 12' from the basket. Bonzi can't pass and he can't defend.

Welcome to Rocket fan's reality 2007. I find it mind-boggling, but I'm glad everyone seems to be happy.

again, u never know what the "REAL" tmac can be if his back was never an issue. most great players don't have health issues and it's fortunate tmac has fought through this to still can have a hall-of-fame career.

but like u, if tmac never had any back issues and he can go all out and play reckless, he IS easily capable of being the best player. people just don't know the mental and physical difficulties of playing w/ a bad back.

Umm was Bonzi not part of that Trailblazer's team that was a quarter away from the Finals in 00' or am I just hallucinating an entire playoff series?

for bonzi to be effective at all this year, he's had to have total ball domination. in the playoffs do you really want him taking away shots and plays from yao and tracy?

now he has shown in the past an ability to be a ferocious rebounder and scorer around the basket. it would seem that he could be effective as a glorified garbage man, but nothing he's shown as a rocket makes me think he's got that left in his tank. his quickness and explosiveness are, putting it very kindly, lacking. i can see him getting some time as an experiment but even if he doesn't i won't blame the rockets or van gundy at all in the handling of bonzi wells.

i'd like to see him workout here though.

I agree- I have very high hopes for Bonzi, but it looks doubtful...

Oh yeah, he was a quarter away from the Finals. He made it to the 2nd round. Ok, I amend that statement to say, he should make it to the Finals before giving advice to people who have been Conference Champs.

Let's see what he did back then. He played 13 min/game. Some games he didn't play at all. The Trailblazers advanced past Minnesota, with him playing only 2 games against the Timberwolves to get to the 2nd round. In those 2 first round games, he played 3 minutes and 5 minutes total. He was the playoffs savior that the Trailblazers needed to make it to the next round.

I don't count that as advancing past the first round, Bonzi has to play at least 4 games and at least 5 minutes every game.

People want Bonzi to play, the want Snyder to play, and they want V-Span to play. So that makes it an 11-man rotation.

I swear some of you must be related to Luffy.

Unless you are Bonzi's personal trainer and chef, you don't know anything going on between the two. I just love how fans think they know so much looking from the outside. Seriously, an anti winning tactic? It sure isn't working because we've been winning plenty of games without Bonzi. You are a joke.

    stating the obvious?

or are you just now seeing this?

some folks on here post in a fantasy world that is tottaly black and white, instead of the myriad of colors it is in reality.

I also love the ones that live in the past and dont let current events colour their perception....Bonzi today != The Bonzi of previous years

How many playoff games has Luther Head and Kirk Snyder played in their whole entire career. Those two player combined do not have Bonzi's basketaball I.Q and never will. The rockets win when they outrebound their opponent and Bonzi is one of the best rebounders for his position in the entire league. I would not be surprised that Morey or Dawson are in JVG's ear about getting Bonzi back on the court when the cards are on the table come playoff time.

Bonzi did also drop 45, 10 and had 7 assists in a game Vs. Dallas in 03. :p

Look, my point is simple. This team isn't exactly chop full of players that have gone deep in the playoffs. Critiquing Wells is fine but outside of Juwan Howard, Dikembe and Alston I'm not sure there's much to be inspired by including those guys mentioned. It's not like we have players that make Wells' experience negligible.

T-Mac CAN drive. If Wade can drive with Shaq in the point then TMac sure can with Yao in it.

Except the Rockets tend to lose when Bonzi plays.

Just put Luffy1 on your ignore list like the rest of us have...

If you think the GARM is bad just poke your head into the D&D. Everybody thinks they are a know-it-all, and don't dare to bring any reasonable debate. The smug alert is at defcon 5!

That would be a strong argument last year, but this year's team still won without T-Mac or Yao, but did substantialy worse when Bonzi played.

This just in, Bonzi has been on more successfull playoff teams than Tmac, Yao or Battier have been on. And I don't think Alston has ever been on one. Not that I think this means much, but if you want make obscure points about players past, look at the full team and be fair about it.

I hope JVG knows what he is doing. I do believe we will need Bonzi to beat Dallas and SA. Dallas and SA will extend the defense to the 3 point line and I do forsee Head, Battier, Rafer, etc, not getting their normal 3 looks and basically being taken out of the normal offense. We will need and probable get lots of points from Tmac and Yao versus their individual match-ups, but I think we will also needed other easier points than 3 point bombs. If we can get Bonzi in the fold he is very effective inside of 17 feet versus individual defenders.

Now I don't think we need Bonzi to beat Utah, and potentially Phx. (Phx will give Head, Rafer and Battier open looks with their molassus slow doubles--our challenge with them is defending them with perimeter quickness, where Bonzi may not help).

But the playoffs are about match-ups. The fact we won a lot with Yao and Tmac and without Bonzi versus most teams int he regular season is irrelevant. We are going to be trying to beat the best teams--which we have not been very good at in the Tmac/Yao era. If Head or Snyder are hurting us versus Dallas or SA, basically giving us zero offensive threat and being easy to cheat off of or nuetrelize, Bonzi is an excellent alternative to mix things up. His value versus SA was obvious last year when Sac gave them more fight than anyone thought. And if you remember SA largely took away Bibby and Martin from the perimeter (like they will with Rafer, Head, and probably Battier spot up 3 pointers too), but never had an answer to Bonzi getting into their interior.

Glad to hear JVG is open to playing Bonzi. Keep all the options open, we may need all the firepower we can get.
