This sucks. It wasn't JVG's fault that Yao wasn't recovered from his injury. JVG should have gotten one more year.

Must admit I thought it was lottery pick time when Yao went down.

actually, you both do not have a clue of whats going on or of what has been going on, I would suggest for you to read the previous threads to get a better analysis of what happened the past few days

If they do bring in a more offensive minded coach, who do you think will be gone? I think Chuck Hayes will be gone or relegated to towel waver. I like Battier on a JVG coached team but now I would rather have Rudy Gay.

I agree. I don't predict Chuck or Deke to be back.

no i have a pretty good idea of what is going on still think a classy organization like the rockets could have handled it better then they did les should go buy the sun if he likes them so much

I'll go on record saying that firing JVG ranks right up there as one of the worst mistakes the Rockets have ever made - right after the 4 for 1 trade for Barkley, the signing of Scottie Pippen, and firing Rudy. :(

    Best of luck, Jeff.

No. JVG is a good (defensive) coach. He is lacking on the offensive side. He is too stuborn and refuses to develop young talent(rookies) or European pros. He is too doom and gloom and it is time for change. He had his fair share of time. Granted, there were injuries along the way that kept him from coaching his team past the first round(and missing p.offs altogether last yr) BUT.........I am glad we are getting a change.

I hope we can improve our offense, while not sacrificing too much on defense.
The run and gunners look good during the season, but where are the mavs, warriors, and suns right about now.......yep......fishing. :p

Here is to an interesting and hopeful offseason and to 1 WHOLE year w/out significant Yao and Tmac injuries

Jeff didn't deserve to be the scapegoat, IMO. We shall see what Adelman may bring, but he hasn't been stellar, elsewhere.

I think this was a mistake, also. You almost wish you could bring a "Buddy Ryan" offense to complement his defense, in a way. I'm not sure why that doesn't happen more often in basketball.

(and yes, I know Buddy was defense. I was making a point about coordinators.)

Offense AND defense is what wins titles. Spurs, Pistons and Jazz can do both, and that's why one of them will win the title.

defense alone (or at least light years better than an offense) has won in the last 20 years. hasn't happened the other way around in that same time frame.

this current Pistons team is not a strong offensive unit relative to the rest of the league. nor were any of the Pistons teams that won rings.

I actually think it's very possible that we can improve our offense without sacrificing our defense. I mean look at dallas...they were awesome offensivelyl under nelly, and even under avery, they remain a very good offensive team despite avery putting more emphasis on defense. I think that the players on the rockets are smart enough to remember what they have been doing for the past few years and build on that. As for my two cents on the JVG firing, it kinda sucks cuz he definitely helped this team overachieve this year, but I'm also kinda excited to see something new, something to revitalize our offense.
