The charade ends. Our jerk of an owner was forced to play his hand. I have almost no respect at all for Les regardless of whether JVG deserves to be back. Good luck to JVG. Better luck to the Rockets. Adelman better bring his "A" game and make this team play better with whatever hand he is dealt.
Wow, say what you will (I'm not a a Van Gundy advocate at all) but the past two seasons, no one could have done better with what they were given, than him.
Spanoulis is drinking Ouzo about right now JVG got the raw end of the deal IMO but he made his own bed by not getting out of the first round. This is on himself sure but also some of the players, Yao being the first one that comes to mind.
I honestly don't think we need to make that many moves besides the obvious ones (PG, PF) but Yao, Battier, TMac in his offense should suffice with an upgrade at PG. I know it's a pipedream but Bibby would be perfect.
I am tired of that. Van Gundy brought in Ward, Oakley, M. Jackson, Strickland, Weatherspoon, etc... Now what with Adelman? I am tired of coaches forcing their style on a team. We need a coach that can roll with the punches, utilize the current personnel to the max, develop gameplans that suit our teams current roster. Not create a team to suit his scheme.
I suspect that if the Rockets are unsuccessful next year (no second round), many here will continue to put the blame on JVG: "It's JVG's fault we don't have the right players here."
I know one thing for sure, the Rockets organization watches this board like a hawk. I'm not surprised there was an official announcement. I also know that Van Gundy made alot of enemies in the organization with his 'blunt' comments about the team. I know people who work at the Rockets who felt Grumpy made it hard on them to sell season tickets and that is bottom line.
Finally! The franchise needs a change... now we have a new GM and a new coach. Hopefully Morey, like Mullins, is willing to make huge changes.
I'll miss JVG. Four point loss to a tough tough team is a hard way to go out. I loved his candidness, his bball values, his love for the players on the team, even his respect for the fans. Coaches like him are not a dime a dozen. Wish he had more success. But I won't bash the next coach. May Adelman take us to the next level.
On a Brighter Note... On a Brighter Note... Aren't you guys excited to see how various players will develops under a more positive head coach that is leniant with mistakes? The rockets will retain the information JVG has taught about defense and I can't wait to see the changes on the offensive end.. but yea, I liked JVg.
Well, needless to say, I am happy about this. I wish JVG the best, he is a good coach, but I think it is time for a new voice on the Rockets and someone that can utilize the strengths of other players and minimize their weaknesses. Good luck JVG - I will enjoy watching you as commentator. GO ROCKETS !!!!! DD
