but again, i don't expect adelman to run that kings offense the same way w/ us. we have superstars. he didn't run that w/ the blazers that's for sure.

he'll tweak it to fit tmac and yao. when yao's out of the game, he'll run like crazy. but when yao's in, he'll make the game faster but not fast enough so yao can catch his breath at times.

times like this u wish yao was like duncan--size wise

thank you!!! i thought i was the only one who felt this way. i think it's absolutely crazy, particularly after what Yao was able to show you in the low post. no one got more out of Yao than JVG did by developing him in the low post. i do NOT want him playing like Divac. he's too good to be relegated to that sort of role.

That's how I feel, but I hope we're both wrong.

There have been many posts claiming we need better players.

Well... You need to ask yourself, would better players want to come here and play for Van Gundy?

Wasn't Robert Horry quoted saying free agents do not want to come here just because of Van Gundy?

Maybe you did not watch Vlade much but he had a lot of low post moves and scored a lot in the same area that Yao scores now. I would argue that Yao's foot work and quickness are just as good as Vlade's.

I expect Adelman's offense to have the same effect on Yao's assit per game average as it did to Brad Miller's. Brad averaged maybe 1.5 assists a game during his year prior to playing in Sac. His numbers went up to about 4 a year and he turned into a borderline all-star.

And no I don't want you to live 18 feet from the basket but I would like to see him mix it up a little instead of just trying to live in the paint every trip down the floor. He does have a very deadly 18 foot jumper.

And stop trying to make Yao something he is clearly not. He never was and never will be Shaq.

Robert Horry has lost his credibility over the years. These days, he's just known as a dirty player.

There is simply no evidence to support your arguments. VSpan can't shoot and turns the ball over too much. Teams would figure that out quickly. They would *welcome* his wild drives to basket. He's closer to Tony Soprano out there than Tony Parker. Alston at least didn't turn the ball over. Shooting wide open threes in an offense with Yao Ming clogging the middle is much more preferable to running head first into a wall which would be the effect of watching Spanoullis do his "I'm the T-Mac of Greece" thing. Jesus, I can't believe that some of you people believe the entire season rests on how Van Gundy neglected a second round scrub, a fat quitter and Kirk "two teams already gave up on me" Snyder. I hope Adelman does well at the very least so we don't have to see the knee-jerk morons on the BBS twist themselves in knots again writing about how *they* would coach the team.

this is not the end of the Gundy era, he says all the positive things because he wants to plan ahead, he will be probably back with a diff team....he knows how to please when his ass is in needs

i'm not saying he should play like shaq. but yao should LIVE INSIDE. i don't want yao to play beyond 10 feet. we saw what happens when yao is outside of 10 ft v. utah. either dribbles too much -> turnover. or overthinks and then pass a dumb ass. or shoot a fadeaway.

    ur over-expecting yao's greatness outside of 10ft.

like JVG said, yao outside of 10 ft => ORDINARY player. inside => most dominant. and i agree wholehearted w/ JVG on this. yao never became dominant until he is doing what he did before his injury => dominate on the inside.

i do not want him to be used like vlade/miller at all. pointless

I'm not hating. I'm just stating the facts. Everyone hates the Spurs these days because of Bowen and Horry. And it's not just one play. If I recall correctly, he was suspended a few times. We don't need dirty, cheap-shot-taking players; we need tough players. There's a huge difference. But Horry is a still probably THE clutch 3 point shooter of the day. An argument could also be made for Fisher.

I'm not hating on the Spurs. If they win the championship the league might adjust the rules to be fairer on big men, ie Yao.

raja bell ain't dirty? if u live in so cal like i do, lakers fans hate him w/ a passion. and he flops more than vlade in his prime it feels like.

look man, we NEED dirty players. we need other players to complain about our players. that's when u know u got that intimidation down.

if we get adelman, bonzi will most likely come back. and bonzi will kick ass (in a dirty way) like sura did. we need an enforcer.

JVG did a good job defensively and initially gave some direction after Rudy's failures but unfortunately he couldn't lead the team in a more positive direction.
It's not all his fault, there is only so much one can do with such limited talent and despite all the yelling here guys like VSpan and Novak aren't ready to make a significant contribution but we need to move forward while retaining some of the good things that JVG did like helping develop Yao into a low post player which is neccessary for any good center.
I hope the next coach will be able to do a better job. However that depends on getting the right players and getting them to gel as a team which will probably require bold decisions. I don't want either Yao or T-Mac to go but I honestly don't know how we can surround them with greater talent.
