I would say they definitely would give up green alone for asik... He isnt as important without a big man demanding space. They have no center and no legit SF or PF to pair with him to make up for his deficiencies. He is not a franchise player, but a very good 3 or 4th option on a good team. You can get 15 other PF that are better then him over all and some for cheaper. However you cannot find that many center options better then asik on a deal that friendly. Plus green gets paid a lot for what he brings.
Disagree. That made sense when all we had was James, but now we have a second star. Building with very good players that are great fits, not necessarily superstars, and I think we have a championship squad.
From only a PF perspective all of the following players out performed Green. 1 Tim Duncan, SA PF 2. LaMarcus Aldridge, Por PF 3. Chris Bosh, Mia PF 4. Blake Griffin, LAC PF DTD 5. David Lee 6 Amir Johnson, Tor PF 7 Nikola Vucevic, Orl PF 8 David West, Ind PF 9 Paul Millsap, Uta PF 10 DeMarcus Cousins, Sac PF 11 Larry Sanders, Mil PF 12 Ryan Anderson, Nor PF 13 Josh Smith, Atl PF 14 Anthony Davis, Nor PF 15 Kevin Garnett, Bos PF 16 J.J. Hickson, Por PF 17 Kenneth Faried, Den PF 18 Carlos Boozer, Chi PF 19 Tiago Splitter, SA PF 20 Zach Randolph, Mem PF Only hickson and Splitter are even challengable. From a center perspective only these players outperformed Asik. 1 Serge Ibaka, OKC C 2 Marc Gasol, Mem C 3 Al Horford, Atl C 4 Al Jefferson, Uta 5 Brook Lopez, Bkn C 6 Joakim Noah 7 Greg Monroe, Det C 8 Roy Hibbert, Ind C 9 Dwight Howard, LAL C 10 Tyson Chandler, NY C I would say Tyson and Monroe are actually questionable too. So by position it would be smarter to spend the 8 million in salary to Asik and the center position then Green and the PF position. But i would do this deal if I was the rockets.
In theory, he fits. I just don't like his salary, inconsistent effort and what Boston will likely expect in return for him.
Love Green, but cant see this happening. Ainge values Green highly (as he should) and realizes how rare a budding talent like Green is in the league. More likely he will use him as an anchor for the future and hope to surround him through the draft with other gifted players.
Honestly I would rather inquire about Brandon Bass - and not offering Asik for him. He would be a good fit next to Dee-wite, he's played with him before, can space the floor, can hit the outside shot, decent help defender. I dont know what his contract looks like so i dont know what it would take...
Green's seemingly high asking price on Boston's end is more out of necessity than it is out of practicality. If Boston trades both Green and Rondo (the latter seems likely), it makes the whole "We're not tanking, I swear" thing look that much more comical. Bottom line: in theory, he fits, but he isn't all that. At the end of the day, he's still a 13-5 player. Sure, he had one great playoff run...but so did Austin Croshere at one point.
Throw in Parsons and it would be an even trade. Rondo is a top 5 PG in this league, getting him won't be that cheap. You got to give up someone good to get someone even better.
