The Texans can't get any coach they want, see Jimmy Johnson in 2005 (offered both head coaching and GM roles)

He has been working for bud for 15 years so they must at least get along. schottenheimer got fired after going 14-2. NFL head coaches have a short shelf life. If Bud kept him around so long fisher should be happy for that.

a couple of quick comments from Bud questioning his job as a coach on the heels of a 13-3 season can change all that real quick.

Kubiak would never do this. His jersey reads 'Woe Is Me'

not easy to replace a coach of that caliber. i think it's short sighted, frankly. jeff fisher didn't all of a sudden forget how to coach during this last offseason.

Hes too stubborn for me to support him anymore. He has always been that way too, he isn't willing to think outside the box and change things up, even when its clear the season is over. In this league, you have to be able to inspire your players, and he clearly can't anymore.

He let his ego and pride get in the way of giving Vince a fair shot. No other coach would let Kerry Collins continue to be the starter. I think he is ready for a change of scenery too, so he doesn't care if he gets fired at this point.

Fisher was a topic on that ESPN show. None of the journalists (WPage, BRyan, JayM or KBlackistone) thought Fisher should be dismissed by the Titans mid- or post-season.

Then Tony Reali pointed out that he had six winning seasons out of sixteen.

I think the world of Jeff Fisher-- although it is admittedly from a distance. I don't know how to reconcile these accusations of his egotism. His remarks at McNair's funeral were beautiful and humbling...

... but I think it is time for him to continue his coaching career somewhere else. I don't really like his brand of football. Give me some pizzazz.

He is good but not that. Like I've said many times before. Fish is the JVG of football. Puts a good product on the field but never a great one. Since he never takes any chances, he can always blame the talent or effort of the team when things go south.

Jimmy Johnson wasn't coming back to any NFL team. He likes chilling in the Florida Keys, combing his hair, and doing his thing on FOX.

Bud could do the Texans a favor by firing Fisher and McNair could finally get a good head coach.

Nothing wrong with Kubiak right now. Plus, I like the offense. It's high scoring and fun to watch.

    fixed.

I love Fisher, but I don't want him anywhere NEAR the offense.

He is an outstanding D coordinator, for sure...but he is an excellent head coach too.....

But you are right the Texans need a good D coordinator.

Heck..they have a lot of talent...sometimes the O doesn't help much though when they get off the field so fast....they need a running game...something fierce.

I think JVG comparison is a good one. It might just be time to go. He is a good coach, but change is inevitable.

that may be true. it's just funny to me how fickle we are as sports fans, me included...because fisher was a hero less than a year ago.

no one thought they'd be 0-6...but no one thought they'd be 13-3 last season, either.

    Anybody catch Fishers apology?

That might be one of the best apologies of all time...

He needs a new job. That team isnt going anywhere and with Vince being a bust that pushes them back atleast another 2 years from being mediocure again...

ANY coach that goes 0-6 (and loses an NFL game 59-0) is going to be on the hot seat. And deservingly so. Doesn't matter what happened last year.

I understand that. I just don't think it's that easy to replace a guy like Jeff Fisher. I don't believe the man forgot how to coach. Very different from a guy who hasn't proven it yet.
