Worse than Rudz? Never played there. Sounds like I've been lucky. The worst is playing anywhere downtown like the Mercury Room. You have to double park, turn on your hazards, and load in at top speed while a cop is yelling that you can't park there and the vallet guys are giving you dirty looks. You have to get someone to open the back door (which only opens from the inside), then you have to find someone with the key to the elevator because it doesn't work without one. Sorry I can't come out Friday, got a gig myself. I've been meaning to come hear you guys because I see your flyers all over Sterrett.
Yeah, you haven't lived until you have nearly died on the Blythe Spirits "metal staircase of death". It was solid metal, one-person wide and on the outside of the building like a fire escape. It was steep too. Never played the Mercury Room, but I know that downtown is a pain in the arse. I've played a few gigs down there - some pre-revitilization, some post - and it is always difficult. I'm glad someone sees those flyers!
Just got the artwork done and thought you guys might want to check it out... Cover courtesy of Rocketeer.
Very nice. It grabs you. I like the cd label best. I'd check it out. Very imaginative and great color. If I were to change something it would either be the rose petals or the font. I would try A) a real flower/flower petal with water droplets. The droplets will give you the depth you might be looking for. Or B) possibly go with something more sinister that works against the Gummy bears likeness. Such as a dark gummy bear shadow or some object like a trap door or guitar imprint or C) Possibly change the flower to an orange peel with dark shadow
The label is literally a photo of an orange slice. The cover is meant to be a "gummy Buddha" hence the gummy bear sitting on the lotus flower.
We will probably go until about 12:30 give or take. It depends on when we get started. Last time, we went until about quarter to one. I'll definitely save you a copy.
Damn, Another Brother pimped the show and our website on 610 at the end of the Vandermeer show. You rule, AB!
What time? The festival website isn't too forthcoming with details. Finally, something in my neck of the woods.
The band goes on at 5pm. I'm just filling in on bass duites with them while they look for another player. I'm not big into Celtic music or anything, but it is usually pretty fun. I wish the drummer from orange is in and Slapshifter was playing with us for this one, but she is playing with Josephus Saturday night at Dan Electro's. By the way, that is going to be a very cool show if anyone is interested.
Darn, too early. We have a party to go to Saturday night, and I'm not thrilled about it. If the party sucks (which it will), I was hoping to have a good alternative lined up.
Thanks. What is REALLY funny is that the mime on the poster is an actual mime I found online. He is Mimbo the Mime from England: Just got lucky finding that one!
