Meh. He changed his coaching some over his tenure in Phoenix and later in LA.

Will you suddenly have super organized practices with a clearly defined pecking order? No... and that is one of the reasons I would not have hired him.

However you will see changes in his system and philosophy. He changed/added to and made material changes in the system he ran and how he utilized players. The NBA is a dynamic league that is highly dependent on the rules and how the game is officiated. You now have a coach that can make in game adjustments and modify play calling at a very high level.

So really it depends on what you mean by knowing what you will get.

Silas is likely to get an associate head coaching title with an another organization or take the offer of top assistant with the Warriors.

It won't be long until you see Silas named head coach of an NBA team, most likely in the next year or so.

David Lee was a decent player, but more of a fringe all-star. He was a decent player who had a good year in the East and made the all-star team that season. He wasn't close to a franchise player or anything.

With the Lakers, first of all D'Antoni was hired 10 games into the season after Mike Brown was fired. So obviously the team had issues before he ever got there. Plus, it's hard for a coach to come in and be successful without a full training camp.

And as for the players... Dwight was playing hurt coming off of back surgery, Nash was hurt for most of the season, Gasol was hurt for much of the season (only played in 49 games), and Kobe was an old chucker who had problems with Dwight.

You cannot tell me either of those stops in New York and Los Angeles were good situations.

Morey needs to be the Defensive coach, create a roster full of nothing but good defenders and Harden, let D'antoni figure out how to put up points.

I would also like to add that Bernie Bickerstaff had the Lakers playing damn good while acting as the interim head coach prior to Pringles getting hired full time.

Who are we kidding, no defense will be played during the era of Dantoni...The rockets will need to add as much firepower to the roster as possible.

Well he was tremendous at throwing college kids under the bus when his college teams underperformed. Saw that with Wake, saw many others coming out of the weeds to say the same from his prior stops. Unfortunately that underperforming was quite a lot. Fortunately there will only be a handful of times he'll be asked to opine on why from the assistant's chair. Hard to know how he'd mesh with peer coaches in Houston however.

He did well in that role in Memphis. My bigger issue is, can you play great defense and still run a D'Antoni offense? It's hard, but GSW is proof that you can. But I don't know if we have the right personnel to do be excellent offensively and then be disruptive defensively. 14-15 seems like a fluke.

Totally agree. It ALL COMES DOWN TO THE PLAYERS YOU HAVE ON THE COURT. The coaching nor philosophy matter unless you have guys willing to put forth the effort on defense. It's as simple as that. We don't need to be a shutdown defensive team, but we need guys that can work together well and step up late in games to get stops when needed.

Harden tuned out McHale ... You think he's going to tune in to an assistant coach not names Khloe?

Exactly. Morey needs more two-way guys if he wants a D'Antoni offense to succeed with Harden as the focal point.

Are you unaware that the Knicks defense was top 10 prior to Mike D resigning when they hired Woodson? If so, what makes you think good assistants don't make a difference when it clearly did in NY.

THIS! To pretend that merely by having good assistants on the staff will make up for D'Antoni's arrogance is the very definition of stupidity. It didn't work with McHale and it won't work with D'Antoni. No matter how great or innovative or super fantastic Bzdelik is, he is the ASSISTANT while D'Antoni is the HEAD COACH. Guess who decides what (offense or defense) is going to be emphasized? Hint: Not the assistant coach.
