The interesting thing about Amazon is that it was a high-risk, high-reward project. Just a little less success early on, and it's very possible Amazon never takes off and is just another forgotten, failed internet company. A million things had to go perfectly for it to get to this point, so even if her contributions were seemingly small, she could very plausibly argue that Amazon fails without her. Beyond that, she also took on equal risk if it failed - their combined money would have been lost/etc.

 

Whoever convinced him to shave his head should get half.

I think they kinda did. They probably had their own sty of companions in each of their own wings of their compound.

After that first $50 billion or so, wouldn't marriage kind of become obsolete? You can have your every momentary whim catered to for six lifetimes, and anybody who tries to scold you about? You never have to see them again! No matter how much you love somebody, the whole world is on offer! Your very lifestyle essentially transcends p*rnography into something no one but you can even imagine except, like, Qaddafi. Terrifying.

I realize there are considerations like, "Hey, you gotta have children with someone!" I mean, you don't. But if you want to, wouldn't that level of wealth almost obligate you to buy them BETTER PARENTS? If I had that kind of cash, divorce would be a mercy to both of us.

 

Bill gates and Warren buffett seem to be still happily married.... But yes, I agree with a lot of your post. Money is a funny thing. It can make you happy til it can't.
