It is not Jeff Bagwell's job to police the use of PED's in sports. He gave a very honest answer to the question, and I can tell you that many players feel the same way.

Jeff Bagwell, Jeromy Burnitz*, Vinny Castilla*, Juan Gonzalez, Brian Jordan*, Barry Larkin, Javy Lopez*, Edgar Martínez, Don Mattingly, Fred McGriff, Mark McGwire, Jack Morris, Bill Mueller*, Terry Mulholland*, Dale Murphy, Phil Nevin*, Rafael Palmeiro, Brad Radke*, Tim Raines, Tim Salmon*, Ruben Sierra*, Lee Smith, Alan Trammell, Larry Walker, Bernie Williams*, Tony Womack* and Eric Young*

    My Picks:

    Mark McGwire
    Lee Smith
    Barry Larkin
    Dale Murphy
    Jeff Bagwell
    Jack Morris
Can't decide between Palmeiro, McGriff, and Mattingly.

Most Hall of Fames are jokes
Mainly because of those that vote on it.

Baseball seems worse because. . . people vote for or against
    people
for some rather .. . . idiotic reason

I remember one person voted against a player
NOT BECAUSE HE DID NOT BELONG
    but
Because he wanted to preserve Bath Ruth's only unanimous vote record
when I heard that. . . I said to myself. . your voters are idiots

    If a guy belongs. . . he belongs . . .. artificially preserving a history
    is just crap

I think the Baseball HOF is far from a joke. Some of the voters, and the process they use is, but the end result has been good.

The Naismith HOF is a joke.

The one thing I'd like to see is living HOF's getting a vote. Who knows better than the great players that played against them?

Until Rose gets in the Baseball HoF, it is a joke.

Until Guy V gets in the Naismith HoF, it is a joke.

While I'm a Rose HOF supporter, I don't fault them for choosing to not include a person banned from baseball.

Naismith needs fewer, not more, IMO.

I understand your point on Cooperstown; I personally think that since they're a separate entity from MLB they should act like it.

About Naismith: whether there are others that don't belong is besides the point. Guy V belongs in, period. It is a joke and a travesty that he is not. There is no credibility--NONE--for that joke of a "hall of fame" until they get that wrong righted.

He's a headscratcher. You can only choose nine.

When does the voting complete? When do they make announcements?

Bagwell deserved it last year. He deserves it now.

Will be announced on Monday, Jan. 9th.

With SHSU, the Texans, and potentially this announcement on Monday, this could be the most epic sports weekend I've had in a long, long time.

If I were voting on this class, I'd have Bagwell, Larkin, and Lee Smith. I'd strongly consider Don Mattingly and Fred McGriff.

No votes for Bagwell from the CBS guys.

    Only Heyman explains:

the guys at CBS, then, are all stupid.

yes, ad hominem intended. Until Pujols, no NL first baseman in NL history was better than Bagwell.

To still "be thinking about it" is stupid, stupid, stupid.

The numbers a worthy, but still thinking about it?

If the numbers are worthy, than what more is there for him to think about?

The only way Bags should be left off a ballot is if a voter absolutely refuses to vote for anyone who played during the steroid era. I think that is an absolutely idiotic thing to do though.

How does Bagwell simultaneously get tied to steroids without proof AND take flack for not having numbers indicative of the usual steroid user?

EDIT: The show starts at 1. The announcement is at 2.

its not going to happen this round but i do think he makes good progress, specifically because this year's cast of nominees are a lackluster bunch. i think next year but more likely year after next is Bags year.

Highly doubtful Bags makes it in this year. For some stupid reason, the writers will make him wait.

Next year Biggio joins the list, and should be first-ballot.
