Jean Carlos Batista agrees to terms with the Astros

    I think being a semi-high 1st rd pick kind of makes him the SS of the future by default at this point. I'll be honest, however, I am beginning to get a tad concerned with Castro. The only stat that jumps out as good is obp but he has shown NO power and only hitting .229. I think the Stros are just looking for this guy to start hitting a bit before calling him up but I would like to see some power with that.

    That's my point. I don't like using default labels. I simply consider him to be our best prospect at the position in a weak farm system.

    The Astros are looking for Castro to get work offensively and defensively. It's a lot more than just hitting. The primary job of a catcher is what he does behind the plate. Castro is a converted infielder and needs all the work he can get calling games and fielding his position even if he does start hitting the ball better.

    The good thing about both Castro and Mier in terms of adding pop is that they both have good physical frames so they should fill out and add more strength than smaller players at their positions over the next few years.
