Why would he lose his job? They've got as much talent now as they've ever had. You want him to coach and shoot free throws too?
Well, JB is right. But he doesn't seem to have a clear plan how to fix it. Perhaps that's where we will have to start.
Start? Start where??? They have 27 games left. Exactly what miracle do you expect JB to magically pull out of his ass that can solve the basketball, attitude and leadership issues that have sabotaged this team from the git-go? The head coach can only do so much. At some point, it's up to the players to take matters into their own hands and get the job done. This is where the leaders on the team step up and put an end to all of the bull****. Until that's done, you can expect the same thing to keep happening until it's too late for anything save for watching the playoffs from the couch.
We managed to capture lightning in a bottle last year with the right mix of players and effort, but this year, the bottle has been smashed and the lightning has fizzled out.

Ask yourself: can James Harden still be the best player on a championship team? If you traded him (to the Spurs for Kawhi just as a hypothetical) I would argue absolutely yes. Can Dwight Howard be the second best player on a championship team? If you traded him (to Cleveland for Love as a hypothetical) I would argue absolutely yes. The problem then is not talent. It's chemistry. The team isn't the only thing broken; the whole damn system is. We need a new system. We need to bring a new coach in during the offseason to execute it. We need to re-sign Dwight and we absolutely do NOT need to be pawning off our talent for lotto tickets at this stage on our development. Anyone who says otherwise needs stop panicking and check themselves.
I was never told about the sorrows... <iframe src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/frA2K5oqm54" allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="315" width="420"></iframe>
THIS... SO MUCH THIS. Harden and Dwight are NOT the problem. Do they have their warts? Absolutely. But so does virtually every single player out there, including stars. The grass is always greener and all of these stars that you think are perfect and so much better than ours have issues to work through too. Since getting out of his early slump Harden has had a really goo d season. Are the defensive lapses still there? yep. They were there last year too. But the team defense was such that it made up for it. Harden is at worst an average defender. He is an absolutely ELITE offensive talent. The only reason he gets hate is because he isn't Steph Curry. No other player in the league is Steph Curry, we're not getting Steph Curry in a trade, we're not drafting him. He's a one of a kind player who is essentially a one trick pony (and that trick is awesome). I'm still in the camp that believes Curry couldn't carry a team like the Rockets on his own. The warriors are a historically significant awesome team, the spurs are insane too. Both have excellent coaching, a well developed system, and loads of talent. Kawhi Leonard wouldn't fix this team. Steph Curry wouldn't fix it either. Teams win. Teams lose. All that said... If you don't have a really good shot to pull in a third star and get a serious coach in here, you should definitely trade Dwight and reload with young talent. We're a long way off. I don't envy anyone whose job it is to make these decisions. Also... I have no idea why the narrative is out there that Harden is selfish with the ball. He's functionally the point guard of the team and is number 8 in the entire league in assists. He would probably be top 5 if his team mates could make high percentage shots.
ok the best player in the league who has become unarguable couldn't carry a a team like the Rockets at the same level as JH? well that statement doesn't look too good right now. No idea where the narrative came from? Do you consider westbrook to be a selfish player because he absolutely gets that tag. But your claim is JH is #8 in assist so he can't be. WB is #2 in the league so he can't be a selfish player can he right.
It's way above JBs head to fix this team, he wasn't originally hired for a situation like this. They need a new system with a real coach.

So given we're still paying for McHale, any chance we can get him back for the 2nd half of the season?
