and not just one but three teams. The Suns, the Grizzlies and Atlanta are already making tanking moves with their coaches. I think that the more successful Philly is the more this will keep happening. A good tanking needs good planning.
Joke: Would you take this trade? Rynosaur 21 million and a peanut for Mike Conley 28 million? example: peanut could be Black or JJ
That team desperately needs a good ole fashion tank job. Holding onto Evans during the trade deadline was genuinely idiotic.
I am better than him. I would be a low cost coach. They are not going to defeat Spurs or Pelicans and Make the P. It is not about winning, it is about top 5 picks in the draft.
some people just trip and fall into opportunities. the guy just happens to be an assistant to a coach who gets fired after 11 games and gets to be coach. he parlays an objectively terrible job of that into, predictably, just another assistant coaching job. and then at his next stop he just happens to be there for one of the more mysterious firings of the last decade. he then somehow parlays an objectively terrible job in his second try into a full-time position because the team just cares so little that they'd rather not be bothered by an elaborate interview process? now he's gonna get like a 4 yr nba head coach salary (presumably on the low end, but still)? how many assistants who haven't proven objectively terrible are out there waiting for their opportunity while this guy's falling ass-backward into head coaching jobs? i mean i figured his goal was accomplished. he takes over, memphis at one point looks like a threat to the all-time losing streak, he gets you a good pick. that's the end of the story. you fire the guy and get a real coach to rebuild. but you bring him back? is this just next level tanking? where you not only try to get bad players, but just in case they're good you make sure they have no idea what they're doing? i mean you're almost certainly going to fire this guy so can you really give him a deal longer than 2 years? otherwise you'll just be double-paying coaches in 1 or 2 years. whether it was his fault or not, there is basically no way either of his two previous chances could have gone worse. this is just baffling.
If this was any other year, there would be a minimum of four different Marc Gasol trade threads on the front page. This team is not even hiding the tank.
