I was Stuck in Utah so my woman and I went to the Jazz game on 3/24. The few rockets fans that there were there cheered are louder than all of of those loser Jazz fans. A couple of few Jazz fans even gave us us props for being so die hard (we were really loud and obnoxious the whole game). The Game was close until the end, the Jazz got a lot of questionable calls like usual when their at home. My conclusion is the Jazz are only good at home on the road they suck. If we do meet them in the playoffs we will win. But we probably won't because the jazz suck on the road and most likely won't get out of the first round.
We definitely need a healthy TMac to have any chance against the Jazz. A healthy TMac for the past few seasons has been the winner in any game against the Jazz.
I miss the old Rockets team, that team ducked no one! It's like Hakeem when he told Robert Reid to pass him the ball while getting triple teamed "I Dunk on all of them" The Sonics still talk trash about the Rockets not being able to beat them
I am willing to bet anyone on this board that if: a) We dont face the Jazz, we will win the first round. b) If we get out of the first round, we will make the conference final and either win in 6 or lose in 7...no matter who it is...even the Jazz. c) If we get to the Finals, we will win it all. I am willing to bet all three. I know that the mental block for this team is the first round. We CANNOT face the team that has our number. Period. We can eventually beat them if we keep playing year after year. Hell, even the Colts beat the Pats....ONCE...when it mattered. I just think that the first round is such a huge albatross for us right now...especially against the Jazz. And the Jazz know it. They want to play the Rockets. Styles make fights.
exactly right!!!!!!!!! our mindframe is so messed up about the first round that it would do wonders just to get into the second round... then u would see a different team scared of no one with confidence and a chip on there shoulder willing to take on anyone in there path...bar none(jazz, lakers, spurs) but we have heard this first round crap in the media so long.....and its been over 12 years since u have even sniffed the 2nd round ....so its a huge distraction and they play like its a distraction......thats the problem our first round rockets team hears all the talk...and they play not to lose and prove a point, as opposed to playing flowing and free, in which they could beat anyone.......its a mental block that wont change until we get outta the 1st round.....thats why its imperative to have a favorable matchup in order to get this much needed confidence and swagger that we possess but wont display.. especially if we draw the worse matchup who has put us out the past 2 seasons with relative ease......we have a mental block against this squad....and u would have to be stevie wonder not to see that FACT
That's all I've been saying. Gotta get that 1st round monkey (more like King Kong) off our backs against any team except the jazz. After that happens? Bring on any and all takers. Including the jazz.
Do you really believe that the Rockets would fare better against the Jazz in the second round or beyond? That's some magical thinking!!!
I agree avoid Jazz at all costs! The Jazz over the course of their history have for the most part been able to beat the rockets, except in 94 & 95. Bring on the blazers or nuggets! Lets face it the rockets have better matchups with those teams.
Answer this question, who do the Rockets have the better chance at beating. Utah or _____ west team not named Lakers(maybe healthy spurs)
Jazz won over NY tonight and moved up to the 5th. If playoffs started tomorrow, Rox would face Jazz again. Just an update of the standing. Just to clarify, I am not advocating intentional loss. Not for now. If anything is going to happen, it has to be the last 1-3 games. The standing won't set till then. It is interesting to keep an eye on how things are going to evolve.
I'm still confident the Jazz will finish 7th or 8th. Their schedule is harder than ours and they have yet to prove they can beat a team over .500 on the road. I wouldn't be surprised if we faced them though...it's like destiny.
just let it be, we are facing j*zz no matter what we do. lets just hope we kick their asses all the way back to salt shet city
I just posted this in the "Magic Number" thread. Here's their next 6 games and my expected outcome: @POR L @DEN L MIN W @NO L @DAL L @SA L And then they finish up with GS W LAC W @LAL W I say they win the Lakers game because I expect the Lakers to be resting most of their starters. So that would give them a record of 50-32. Portland would only have to go 5-4 to finish ahead of them. They've got 2 games vs. OKC and 1 each against the Clippers and Memphis. Add Utah at home and that should be 5 wins right there. New Orleans would have to go 6-4 to pass Utah. They've got Golden State, Sacramento, the Clippers and Utah at home that they'll probably win. The remaining 2 wins probably have to come from Phoenix, Dallas (2 games), and @Miami). Dallas would have to go 8-1 to pass Utah. It's possible. Their toughest games are a home and away vs. New Orleans. But here's the thing, they play the Rockets in the last game of the season. If the Rockets have already cemented their playoff position and Utah is 50-32 and Dallas is 50-31, then the Rockets can throw the last game to push Utah down to the 8th spot and make them play the Lakers in the first round. That would be sweet!
I think the odds of us being 4th and Utah being 5th are virtually nil. The highest probability of us facing them has us 3rd and Utah 6th. Still a slight change we could be #2 with Utah #7. But I think thing the most likely scenario has us 3rd or 4th facing Portland or New Orleans with Utah 7th facing the Spurs.
I wish the Jazz would play the Lakers int he first round. Id like to see how many phantom fouls they get against Kobe.
