Some people on CF are absolutely ridiculous. Too much recency bias.

Where was this "Gobert is overpaid" narrative when he was named DPoY for the 3rd time? Where was this narrative when he got the game-sealing block on Morris in game 1 of that very series?

Yet, when Gobert's (arguably) biggest weakness was exploited, everyone throws all that past stuff in the garbage and strictly focuses on one singular game. No blame on Snyder, no blame on anyone else. Just Gobert and his contract.

He wasn't overpaid in the regular season, nor after the first round, nor after 6 games of the second round. But hey, he's apparently overpaid after game 7. Like wtf.:rolleyes::rolleyes:

The #1 seed in the West(and the team with the league's best record) just lost to the #4 seed who were without their best player in Games 5 and 6 and blew a 2-0 lead. And they have yet to advance past the second round the entire time they've had Gobert. So yes, that contract is going to be scrutinized at a time like this.

Have you read through the thread? A bunch of us thought it was a pretty stupid contract then and likely feel the same now. I know I still think it was a stupid contract.

The Jazz had the best record in the NBA and got further than the Lakers, Blazers, Mavs, Heat, and Warriors and got to the same spot as the Nets, Nuggets and maybe the Sixers (and in that series had a 25 point third quarter lead with the opportunity to bring the series back to Utah).

They shouldn't have extended Rudy and just let him walk this offseason which would give them $14mm in a super thin FA market where Rudy would have gotten several max deal offers? Please.

It doesn't mean he isn't overpaid.

He isn't a championship level player and is taking a significant amount of your cap. Not saying that Jazz didn't make the right move, obviously someone would of paid him, but it's still a dumb contract.

But hey, run it back again and see the same results for the Jazz next year. I certainly not mad about that lol.

I think his salary right now is fine, though I'd be worried about the last year or two on the deal. He's a flawed player but there is much more money available to be spent than there are "true max" players or whatever. Most teams don't have better avenues to spend $40mm than if they signed Gobert, which should mean his salary is fine.
