LAS VEGAS - Deron Williams admitted he's "a little bit" worried that Jazz teammate Carlos Boozer will opt out of his contract after next season, but acknowledged that doing so would be a smart move.
"Why wouldn't he?" Williams said after practice with the U.S. Olympic men's basketball team Saturday. "It's a no-brainer. He could make more money."
Boozer told KSL-TV on Friday that if he does opt out of his $68 million contract, it would be a "business decision" about which fans should not fret, because he could simply re-sign with the Jazz. Opting out, however, would make Boozer a free agent able to sign with any team - though the Jazz could offer a longer and more lucrative new deal.
Boozer downplayed speculation that he plans to use his opt-out clause as an opportunity to leave the Jazz and join the Miami Heat. Boozer lives in Miami during the offseason.
"That's just talk," he said. "I've been talked about in rumors and whatever my whole career. . . . I'm not even worried about that. I'm worried about playing for the gold medal and playing with my teammates and focusing on this. That's the biggest thing in all of our lives right now."

Interesting indeed. So the Jazz have reason to be a bit nervous. Well, nothing they can do about it now. We will see how this all plays out.

I hope he does go to the Heat. That'd be fantastic for the Western Conference.

I'd giggle a bit if a scenario went down like the Cleveland debacle. Really, I would chuckle. Maybe even laugh uproariously. Possibly even die from wheezing when my lungs collapse.

Come on Booze, next year you need to yet again screw your rep AND the jazz in the process...

Which is exactly why he isn't going anywhere. Utah can and will pay him the most money. Nothing to see here.

You've got nothing to worry about Utah. When I give my word, I mean it.

    Sincerely,

    Carlos Boozer

If I were a Jazz fan (insert joke) I would be falling out of my chair reading this after how terrible he was in the playoffs. You want more money? Here's a tip: don't disappear in the playoffs.

why are athletes the only members of society criticized for taking the money? now what boozer did to cleveland sucked, but at least the guy is being honest right now.
