I tell you what, I would just LOVE to hear every analyst slob him off every single chance they get. He would easily be the most popular Rocket that wouldn't play.

Think Freddie Mitchell here.....most significant, insignificant player we would have.

He's definitely worth taking a look at...

Signing? I doubt it, but if he really looks like he has the stuff of old then why not. I guess that's what teams are entertaining workouts with him - just in case he somehow is back. But i'd be shocked if he ever became anything more then a shell of himself and then retired. In the NBA, where differences between superstars and bench warmers isn't all that great (just think of what those bench warmers did in college and high school or in Europe), it's tough to see.

It's hard enough to come back from major knee surgery, but a near death motorcycle accident? That would be Lance Armstrong like - not impossible, but certainly amazing.

Bowen will play 4 times the amount of minutes JW would play if we sign him. CD does nothing in haste, glad we kept him because every team needs that hustle energy guy that RB is.

As far as JW is concerned, he is a project that won't do anymore than sit on the bench here next year and the best situation for him would be to find a team like the Rapts that might provide some playing time for him to complete his comeback. We are competitive this year and JVG is going to be fielding the best team he can in every game this year and I don't think that team is going to include a JW. I don't see signing a guy that might have like 70 DNP coaches decision after his name in the box score.

Why doesn't everyone see this? JW will be no help at all this year and of questionable value next year. Why would he come to a team committed to winning now, which would put his need to develop on the back burner?

If we dump Charlie Ward and sign JW for the vet min with a TEAM option for next year, fine with me. The reality is he needs to go (1) to a losing team that will have nothing to play for the last 1/2 of the season (2) with a good coach and (3) pathetic depth in the backcourt. We strike out on all 3 counts.

Square peg, meet round hole. This JW fantasizing reminds me of the Chuck Hayes threads a couple of months ago. This stuff is way off the deep end but that's just my opinion.

OFF TOPIC:That will bring the total to 83 total Regular Season games if I am not mistaken. Something is amiss.

I think Jay Will if he came here would spend the begining of the season in the DL league... (btw does anyone know when that gets off the ground and if teams are required to send players or just have the option?) he said he is looking for the situation. right now he has to assume the best he can do is come off the bench. he would have already had 1 season under his belt is no where near the rookie he was in 2002 he is just physically getting back into the game but he isn't an unknown commidity like Luther Head.. its like a risk reward thing if he pans out he is our starting point guard for the next 5 years if it doesn't we lose 500K in salary and maybe 500K in luxury tax but i don't think we are over the threshhold.

Jay Williams back a 2nd time

Found this on an website that shall remain nameless, but it is from the chicago tribune, so I have attatched a link to the original article as well (You have to register to view)

Williams To Give Miami And Houston 2nd Visits
    16th September, 2005 - 8:29 am
Chicago Tribune - Jay Williams, whose career with the Bulls ended after one season because of a motorcycle accident, is still on the comeback trail. He worked out Wednesday for Houston and also has visited Miami, Toronto and Cleveland. He said Houston asked him to make another visit.

"That's a good sign," said Williams, who also will make a second trip to Miami.

Yeah, I know there were posts about his first visit, but since its a slow news time, I figured people may be interested in the news that he was invited back for another visit....Maybe people will read that and think Rockets are looking to shake things up, or maybe they are just wanting to get in the news again...Not much else going on, J. Will visit #2 seems like an ok thing to run around about...

This is worth a post - new news gets buried at the end of old posts.

If Williams comes in, that means Wesley definitely gets moved. Williams only wants playing time and Wesley is the easiest guy to move.

Williams was plenty athletic. He wasn't Francis, but almost no one is. There are maybe two or three points in the league who can approach Francis' athleticism.

However, I watched him play some at Duke his final year and he was a great penetrator, a good shooter with unlimited range and a quick shot, and he seemed like he had a chance to become a great shooter. Vitale mentioned Isiah Thomas, but I saw him as a taller Tim Hardaway with a more consistant shot.

Now, who knows? But it all comes down to...not my money. If management is willing to take a chance on him, I applaud them. It's virtually no risk and tremendous reward upside. People say "he probably won't be this, he probably won't be that, I doubt he can do it." So what? If there's a one in a thousand chance he could become 80% of what he was supposed to be, then he's got to be signed. If he only gets back to being Tim Hardaway post ACL comeback, Miami era, then he's more than worth the investment.

If we land Williams and if he stays healthy and recovers 100%, our PG solution will be solved. He is a pass first shoot second type of PG that we always needed. He is a good shooter as well.

    Projected lineup:
    Yao
    Swift
    Tmac
    Anderson
    Williams

This lineups gives me goose bumps!!! Cant wait for the season to start. Feel like this has been the slowest offseason because of the excitment for the upcoming season!

I wouldn't get too excited, thesaint. I think by the time Jay Will recovers to 100%, Luther Head will be our future PG.

I would say give him a chance.. heck, can't be any worse than giving Rod Strickland a chance.

Interesting. I really hope that Blake to Miami deal goes down. Right now, I think Miami would have a better chance than we do right now.

Jason Williams is not a pass first guard at all. He was a scorer that passed up shots mainly when he didn't have one. He is much more akin to Steve Francis than, for example, Mike Bibby was in college.
