Jay Williams has been dunking in his workouts and is prety close on his rehab. As he has less than 2 years of NBA experience we could easily sign him and let him get his rythm and stamina back in the NBDL... imagine our point situation of jay williams and vasssililis spanioulius in the coming years that sounds solid to me. he could easily be had for the LLE as his main competiton for signing him miami is about to get the other jason williams. cleveland is looking at damon jones. it seems like we are his best shot to get minutes and he shares an agent with yao and they were consecutive picks.

i'd rather go after earl watson, chris duhon, or steve blake. after j-will's accident, they're probably as athletic as he is now. what's more, they're hungry for playing time, nba-proven, and can be had relatively cheap.

I say let's wait for the trading deadline now to work a guard into the mix. Who knows what kind of deal we can get when the expiring contracts mean more, or we could have some other need in the lineup.

Actually, he can dunk. He said as much in the last interview he had. He said he can dunk, but don't go expecting him driving the lane and dunking on Yao.

Span. was injured during summer league nothing serious ,but enough to keep him from playing.

as for DS or Jay. I say Jay ,not as a starter ,but because he is too cheap to pass up. I like MJ/Head/Jay and then Sura if needed. See how that pans and figure where we need it most 1 or 2 and go after someone at the trade deadline with a few expirings.

We already had a point gaurd that could dunk who got little love from anyone on this board. DS is okay, but his best days are behind him & you've always got possible suspension issues to deal with (cough, cough). Picking Jay Williams would be very far from the worst mistake the Rox have ever made: I think a great attitude guy like him would be great for the team & fans. As much as I Love Mooch I can't believe Jay Williams would be worse....I just don't see the point in getting an aging point gaurd for our young team.

why does anyone think earl watson steve blake (who i think already signed) and duhon is is restricted would even be a viable option?

the only young PG we have ANY shot at with our LLE is Jay Williams and the rox need to get off the ball and wow him cause they can't wow him with cash.

I can't think of a single good reason to give guaranteed money to a guy rehabbing from an injury that nearly ended his career. I think it would be worth it to invite him to training camp, and see how he does.

i think dan dickau would be great. As well as jeff mcginnis. we dont have to have a star point guard on our team, unless jason kidd decides to pull a shawn kemp, and give his money back to new jersey.

:D apostolic3 I think you uncharacteristically missed the deadpan smackdown here. I'm not against looking into the Dookie, but I thought this was really funny.

Signing Jay Williams is assuming that he is in fact physically ready. I don't think any GM would sign him if he is not ready so lets stop arguing weather or not the guy is physically ready to play again.

Personally I would love to give the guy a try. He was super athletic and had a ton of talent when he was selected number 2 in the draft. He went to Chi with the wieght of that entire city on his shoulders and the pressure to succede Jordan. He averaged almost 10 pts and 5 assists a game as a rookie so it is not as if he had a bad rookie year...just not what people wanted from a number 2 pick.

I say bring the kid in and if he looks like he has rehabed then lets give him a shot. Low Risk ...High Reward. I like that.

What about Damon Jones? The guy is young, a proven 3 point shooter and shouldn't be to expensive. Miami has J Williams now so maybe we can do a sign and trade with them.

In a recent report, it was stated that Jay now wants to change his name back to Jayson (or Jason) Williams.

Indeed the guy does not even know what he wants to be called by. How about Dicky V. Williams?

    Below is his official website......
